The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT Vellore) was founded in 1984 as a self-financing engineering college. It was granted university status by the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development in 2001. The university's main campus is located in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. It also has campuses in Chennai, Bhopal & Amaravati. VIT Vellore was ranked 11th in the engineering category, 13th in research, 10th in the university category, and 19th overall in the NIRF ranking 2024. VIT offers a wide range of academic programmes, including 66 undergraduate, 58 postgraduate, 15 integrated, 2 research, and 2 M.Tech industrial programmes. VIT Vellore B.Tech Admission

Selection for admission will be based on the rank secured in the CBT Computer Based Test VITEEE (Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination).

Other admission details are as follows:

• Applicants who are selected will be able to participate in an online counseling process. During this process, they will be able to rank their preferences for campus, program, and fee category.
• Allotment of seats will be based on the matching of the applicant's rank and the available options.
• Applicants with a rank of up to 1 lakh are eligible for counseling to the Vellore and Chennai campuses.
• VIT will verify the eligibility of the applicants after they have paid the tuition fee on or before the stipulated date.
• Applicants will be required to produce the required documents on the day of their arrival on campus or as and when requested by the Admissions Office.
• A provisional admission offered during counseling will be valid only if the applicant's eligibility is fulfilled.
• In cases where the eligibility criteria are not applicable, the decision of VIT will be final.

VIT Vellore M.Tech Admission 2024

The eligibility criteria & admission process is as follows:
Eligibility Criteria 

• To be eligible for the M.Tech. degree programmes at VIT, candidates must have graduated with a full-time degree from any recognized university or institute with a minimum aggregate of 60%
• Candidates who are appearing for their final degree exam or final semester exam in the current year are also eligible to apply
• However, they must have completed their final semester/year exams before the selection counselling at VIT

Admission Process

• To apply for admission to VIT Vellore, candidates must first pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs.1200/- and register for the VITMEE exam
• The exam will be held at designated test centers
• The list of shortlisted candidates will be published on the VIT website or sent to their registered mobile number
• Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in online counseling, where they will be asked to choose their preferred campus and branch
• Once a candidate is selected, they must pay an advance payment of Rs. 1 lakh
• Candidates who fail to pay the advance before the deadline will not be considered for admission

VIT Vellore M.Sc Admission 2024

• Candidates will be shortlisted for admission based on their aggregate marks in their undergraduate degree programmes, up to the pre-final year or semester (this includes all subjects studied up to the pre-final year, including languages and EOP)
• The shortlisted candidates will be called for admission, and seats will be allotted based on the order of merit in the undergraduate degree marks.
• It must be noted that qualifying for the shortlist does not guarantee admission. This will depend on the cut-off marks and the availability of seats
• The shortlisted candidate list will be published on the official website

VIT Vellore Ph.D Admission 2024

For admission into the Ph.D programmes offered by VIT Vellore: 

• Candidates must have completed their 10+2+5 in the relevant course from a recognised university 
• To be eligible for a Ph.D. in Computer Science Engineering / Information Technology, candidates must have a Master's degree in Computer Science, M.Sc. (IT), or MCA
• Candidates  must have also completed their undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in the regular, full-time mode
• The selection process will be based on the candidate's VITREE score, postgraduate degree marks, research proposal, and personal interview
• Candidates will need to take the VITREE, a computer-based test with 100 MCQs (70 technical, 15 English communication, and 15 statistics and probability)
• Shortlisted candidates will then need to appear for a personal interview
