University of Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad is a premier institution of postgraduate teaching and research in the country. It was established by an Act of Parliament (Act No. 39 of 1974) on 2nd October 1974 as a Central University, wholly funded by the University Grants Commission. The University of Hyderabad was accorded the Institution of Eminence status by the Government of India in September 2019. It is ranked 10th among universities and 19th under the overall category in the NIRF rankings 2023 with NAAC grading of 3.28 out of 4.00. The students are selected through a CUET PG exam 2024.

The Faculty of the University includes 20 Sr. Professors, 173 Professors, 78 Associate Professors, and 129 Assistant Professors. The full-time teacher and student ratio is 1:13.32. This ratio does not include Guest Faculty, Visiting Professors, Adjunct Professors, Emeritus Professors, Chair Professors, etc.

University of Hyderabad Infrastructure Facilities

The University’s scenic and serene campus is spread over a vast stretch of land measuring about 2,000 acres, on the old Hyderabad-Bombay road. Amidst the picturesque environment of the campus, several buildings catering to the academic needs, support facilities and residential requirements of the campus community have been constructed over the years. The University also has a city campus ‘The Golden Threshold,’ the residence of the late Sarojini Naidu which was bequeathed to the University by her daughter, the late Padmaja Naidu. 

Central Instruments laboratory: 

Central Instruments laboratory (CIL) is a central facility with state-of-art sophisticated analytical instruments to cater to the needs of the faculty and research scholars in the University.

Indira Gandhi Memorial Library

IGM Library is one of the important central facilities of the University catering to the information needs of faculty, research scholars and students.

Hostel

The Hyderabad University has 23 hostels that accommodate over 5000 male and female students. The hostels are geographically located in both North and South campuses for the students to be nearer to their departments of study/research.

Sports & Physical Fitness

University of Hyderabad has a main sports complex in which a full-fledged standard size cricket pavilion, 400 meters standard running track, an indoor stadium housing four Yonex synthetic badminton courts, a state of the art fitness centre in 4000 sq ft, an indoor sports hall of 4000 sq ft.

Health Centre

The University of Hyderabad Health Centre provides comprehensive primary healthcare and emergency medical services 24x7x365 days to all the students, staff and their dependents.

Shopping Complex

The campus has two Shopping Complexes in both North and South campuses. The Shopping Complexes have canteens, salons, grocery store/s etc.

Post Office

The Post Office is centrally located next to the Guest House. It functions between 9.30 am and 5 pm. The Post Office provides Speed Post, Registered Post and Stamps.

ATMs

The campus has three ATMs–one near the Administration Building, one at the Shopping Complex (North) and one next to the Tagore International House (South Campus).
