CLAT 2025: The Consortium of NLUs conducts the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) every year. Candidates interested in taking admission to the National Law Universities in India can apply to appear for the exam. CLAT 2025 exam will be conducted on December 1, 2024.

Candidates who qualify in the CLAT exam will be eligible for counselling process. CLAT Counselling requires candidates to submit important documents like CLAT admit card 2024, Grade 10 statement of marks, Grade 12 statement of marks, Migration Certificate, Caste Certificate (if any), domicile certificate (if any), etc. Only candidates who have registered for the counselling process can participate in CLAT counselling.

CLAT exam is conducted for students who are planning to pursue legal studies for Undergraduate or Postgraduate courses such as LLB and LLM in National Law Universities.  

CLAT 2025 Exam date

The Consortium of National Law Universities has released the official date for Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025. The exam will be conducted on December 1, 2024 for admission to integrated law programmes in National Law Universities (NLUs). the timings for the CLAT 2025 exam will be from 2 PM to 4 PM.

The exam brochure for CLAT 2025 will be released on the official website soon. It will include important information like dates, CLAT syllabus, eligibility, etc.

What is CLAT?

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a National Level Law exam conducted for students seeking a legal profession. The test is conducted and administered by renowned NLUs for admission in the integrated 5-year LLB or postgraduate courses like LLM. Apart from the NLUs, the CLAT result is also accepted by various private and self-financed schools located in India. The exam pattern and syllabus are different for UG-CLAT and PG-CLAT. CLAT Eligibility 2025

The Consortium of NLUs determines the eligibility for CLAT exam. Therefore, candidates must check the CLAT eligibility requirements before submitting an application. If the authorities find any errors in the eligibility, candidates will be disqualified. Make a note of all the important details about the Eligibility Criteria for both the UG and PG exams below-

CLAT UG Eligibility

The following requirements must be fulfilled by students in order to be eligible for CLAT UG programs:

  • There is no stated upper age limit for students wishing to register for CLAT undergraduate programs.
  • Education from a recognized or accredited state or central board in the 10+2 level is mandatory
  • If a student belongs to the General, OBC, PWD, NRI, PIO, or OCI categories, they must have at least 45% of the grade in the twelfth standard or the equivalent grade.
  • If the candidate falls under the ST or SC categories, they must obtain a minimum of 40% of the grade in the twelfth standard or the equivalent grade
  • The candidate will not be admitted to the program for which they may have applied if they do not submit their qualifying examination (10+2) score at the time of admission
  • The test is also offered to 12th graders who will be taking the board exams in March or April of 2024. They will be disqualified, nevertheless, if they fail to produce a legitimate mark sheet

CLAT PG Eligibility

The following conditions must be met by applicants in order to be eligible for the CLAT PG programs:

  • Students must certify that they have a LI.B. or a comparable degree in graduation 
  • Students from the General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories must have at least 50% marks or an equivalent score
  • Students from the ST/SC categories must have a minimum of 45% marks or an equivalent score
  • There is no declared upper age limit
  • Candidates who will take qualifying tests in the field of law in April or May 2023 are also qualified to take the exam

CLAT Registration 2025

CLAT 2025 registration started on July 15, 2024. The applications for CLAT exam are released in the online mode. Students can fill out the application form on the official website. The CLAT registration process includes following steps -

  1. Visit the official website
  2. The "Register" option on the homepage would need to be selected
  3. Next, students will need to fill up the required information 
  4. Choose the preferred NLUs
  5. Choose the preferred degree and course
  6. Next, upload the asked documents on the website
  7. Before confirming, cross-check the provided information
  8. Confirm and pay the fee
  9. Print the application form when the registration is completed for future use

CLAT Admit Card 2025

The exam day and the CLAT counselling session are the two key events for which the admit card will be used. Therefore, after the admit card has been delivered to the students who have registered successfully, it must be kept secure. Students would be given a specific time frame within which they can download the admit card after it is released.  Without the admit card, applicants would be disqualified from attempting the exam.

It is important that the information on each admit card matches the information provided at the time of registration. If students find any error or discrepancy on their admit card, they must contact the exam administrators as soon as possible.

The following details should be mentioned on the CLAT Admit Card-

  • The preferred college selected by the students
  • Exam details such as the venue, slot time, and dates
  • Reporting time at the allotted test centre
  • Guidelines designed by the exam-conducting body
  • Student's personal details such as the Date of Birth, name of the student, reservation category, and other such information

CLAT Syllabus 2025

Along with the official notification, the syllabus for UG CLAT and PG will be made available separately. Both undergraduate and postgraduate programs have different curricula. For UG programs, students do not require proper knowledge of the law and legal concepts as it is conducted straight after grade 12th. Hence, basic knowledge of the law and international affairs is enough. Contrastingly, for PG-CLAT, students must thoroughly understand the Indian Constitutional Law and have a grasp on other law subjects.

CLAT Result 2025

The CLAT result contains details about the candidate's overall and sectional scores, and merit rank, which is based on how well they did on the test. Along with a merit list, the authorities will also publish an invite list. Following the results announcement, the CLAT counselling process would begin. NLUs will use the CLAT Score Card 2024 to assess admission to law schools.

The candidates would receive the CLAT Result in the form of a scorecard. The table displays the information that will be included on the scorecard once it has been provided to the registered students who have attempted the exam. CLAT Counseling 2025

Students will be divided into a merit and invite list based on their exam performance after the CLAT 2025 results are released. By paying the necessary fee, both will be qualified to sign up for the CLAT counselling. Prior to being allocated a course and a college, students on the merit list will be contacted for counselling. After the counselling has been completed, the seats would be allocated to the selected candidates. Students on the invite list may also be contacted if there are any remaining seats available.

CLAT Cut-Off 2025

The minimum scores and ranks needed to enrol at one of the NLUs can be termed as the CLAT cut-off. The cut-off is the minimum score required for admission to the desired CLAT college. The cut-off for the exam is determined by All India Ranks. The CLAT Cut Off normally ranges from 95 to 100 for the general category, while it typically ranges from 80 to 85 for the SC/ST category.
