MHT CET Exam 2026: The Maharashtra Minister of Higher & Technical Education (HTE), Chandrakant Patil, announced that the MHT CET 2026 will be held in two different sessions, similar to the JEE Main exam. For the academic year 2026-27, the MHT CET will have two sessions- one in April and another in May 2026. For applicants, it'll be optional to appear for the second session, and if they do, the highest achieved scores from both sessions will be considered for admission.   

The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, conducts the MHT CET exam for students who wish to secure admission to B.Tech and B.Arch programs in the government and private colleges of Maharashtra. The conducting body will start the MHT CET registration process by the end of December 2025. Aspirants who meet the eligibility criteria can fill out the MHT CET Application form at cetcell.mahacet.org using their registration number, password, and other login credentials.

Aspiring students must be aware of the pattern and MHT CET syllabus 2026. The detailed syllabus will be released by the Common Entrance Test Cell along with the notification for both PCB and PCM aspirants. As per the MHT CET exam pattern, the total number of questions asked in the exam is 150, with a maximum marks being 200 marks. The duration of the exam is 3 hours.

MHT CET 2026: New Changes Announced

The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test 2026 will now be held twice a year, starting from the academic year 2026-27. On the lines of JEE Main exam, the MHT CET Exam 2026 will be conducted in two different sessions- April and May. MHT CET Eligibility Criteria 2026

Aspiring students must meet the eligibility criteria to fill out the application form. Aspirants failing to meet the eligibility requirements will be disqualified from the selection process by the conducting authority. Interested students can check the eligibility criteria below:

Education Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Computer Science/ IT/Agriculture/Engineering Graphics/Business Studies/ Technical Vocational subject in order to take admission to B.E/B.Tech course. For admission to pharmacy courses, the candidate must have Physics & Chemistry along with Biology or Mathematics.

Age Limit: There is no upper age limit to apply for the exam.

Nationality: Students must be Indian citizens.

Applicants can fill out the application form once they have ensured they meet the eligibility criteria. Once the application process is successfully completed, the conducting body will release the admit card. The admit card is released a few days before the scheduled exam date. Candidates must note that the admit card is an important document that they must carry with them to the examination centre. MHT CET Answer Key 2026

The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra releases the answer key on its official website after the exam is successfully concluded. Candidates who appeared for the examination will be able to download the answer key and response sheet using their roll number and date of birth. It must be noted that the answer key released by the conducting body before the result will be provisional in nature. In other words, students can raise objections against the answer key if they are not satisfied with the answer provided in the answer key.

The MHT CET final answer key, however, is released along with the result. The final answer key is not objectionable, though.

MHT CET Result 2026

The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, will release the MHT CET result likely in June 2026. The result includes an overall percentile score as well as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subject-specific marks. After the results are announced, the authority also publishes the MHT CET merit list. The merit list will contain the names of the candidates who have been shortlisted for the MHT CET 2026 Counselling.

MHT CET Result: Tie-Breaking Policy

In case of a tie in the MHT CET exam, the following tie-breaking policy is applied:

• Applicants who scored better in the mathematics section of the MHT CET will be given priority.
• Candidates with better MHT CET Physics scores will be given preferential precedence if the tie continues.
• Candidates who scored better in Chemistry on the MHT CET will be given preferential precedence if the tie remains.
• In the event of a tie, preference would be given to the applicant who received the highest percentage of marks in the Class 12 examination.
• If there is still a tie, consideration will be given to the candidate who is older in age.

MHT CET Counselling 2026

The MHT CET Counselling is conducted for those candidates who qualify the exam. The counselling process includes registration, document verification, choice filling & choice locking, seat allotment and payment of admission fees. The counselling process is conducted in three rounds and after the completion of each round, the State Common Entrance Test Cell releases the MHT CET cutoff 2026. The tentative MHT CET CAP date is July 2026

The MHT CET counselling fee is Rs. 600 for applicants in the reserved category (SC, ST, VJ/DT-NT (A), NT-1 (B), NT-2(C), and NT-3(D), as well as OBC and SBC) and Rs. 800 for applicants in the general category. There are several online payment methods available for counselling fees, including credit cards, debit cards, net banking, and others. The fact that the counselling fees are non-refundable must be noted.

MHT CET Cutoff 2026

The MHT CET Cutoff is released by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra on its official website. The cutoff is released in the form of opening and closing ranks for each participating institute. Candidates falling in the cutoff range are required to report to the allotted college or institute with their original documents. Selected students are also required to pay an admission fee to confirm their admission.
