XAT Exam Pattern 2025: Xavier School of Management (XLRI), Jamshedpur has prescribed the revised XAT exam pattern. XAT is a Computer-based Test consisting of three sections: a) Verbal and Logical Ability, Data Interpretation and Quantitative Ability, and Decision-Making b) Mock Keyboard Testing c) General Awareness and Essay Writing.
The duration of the XAT exam has been revised from 210 minutes to 180 minutes. The total number of XAT GK questions has been reduced from 25 to 20. There is only an overall time limit for the exam and no sectional time limits. The exam mainly comprises multiple choice questions and the number of questions are reduced to 95.
XAT 2025 is scheduled to take place on January 5, 2025 (tentative). Candidates are advised to check the XAT exam pattern before appearing for the exam. The exam pattern consists of the exam duration, number of questions and type of questions, marking scheme, and other details which help students to prepare for the exam in an informed manner.

XAT Revised Exam Pattern 2025
XLRI Jamshedpur has made some revisions to the XAT exam pattern 2025. From this year, Analytical Essay Writing (AEW) will be conducted during the Group Discussion and Personal Interview round. Till last year, it was being conducted along with the Computer Based Test examination. The detailed changes in the pattern of XAT exam are as follows:
- XAT 2025 Exam time duration reduced to 3 hours from 3 hours 30 minutes last year
- The total number of XAT questions reduced to 95 from 105
- The total number of XAT GK Questions reduced to 20 from earlier 25
- The time duration of the GK section reduced to 10 minutes.
- XLRI to Conduct Essay Writing Test during GD-PI Round
XAT Exam Pattern 2025: Marking Scheme
Candidates can check the XAT marking scheme from the table given below.
- 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer.
- There is a negative marking of 0.25 mark for each incorrect answer.
- If there are more than 8 unattempted questions, 0.10 mark will be deducted for each unanswered question.
- Scores of General Knowledge section is only for final selection and not for shortlisting candidates for GD/Interview.
