Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay): The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, a public autonomous research institution founded in 1958, is the most sought-after institute for students interested in technical education and engineering degrees. The Indian government gave the institute the status of Institution of National Importance shortly after it had been in operation for three years. The institution was created with the assistance and technological know-how of the Soviet Union and UNESCO. According to NIRF Ranking 2023, the institute is ranked 3rd in engineering and 4th in the overall category. The institute is also ranked 4th in the research category. The institute has three schools, fifteen academic departments, and 38 educational centers which provide several courses in various disciplines. The institute's major programs include B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc., and MBA. In addition, it provides B.Des, M.Des, and a few integrated program courses. JEE Advanced scores are used to determine IIT Bombay admission for BTech course, which is then followed by the JoSAA counseling process. The institute decides the admission for its M.Tech, M.Sc., and MBA programs on the results of the GATE, IIT JAM, and CAT examinations, respectively. In addition, 96 candidates were accepted into the institute's 4-year BS program last year. IIT Bombay fees for B.Tech, B.Tech+M.Tech, BS & B.Des program is INR 1,24,600 per semester. For all PG programs excluding MBA, the fee is around INR 85,500 per semester. Additionally, the college provides its students with financial help and scholarships. Students who fall within the SC, ST, or PH categories are free from paying tuition fees in full. A merit-cum-means scholarship is also available for students from households earning less than INR 5 lakh annually by means of waiving their 100% tuition fee. IIT Bombay placement cell  is responsible for inviting reputed companies for campus placement. With the highest package reaching INR 3.67 crore per year, the IIT Bombay Placement 2023 drive established new milestones. The average package stood at INR 23.26 LPA. More than 330 companies visited the college in all, and they provided 1261 job opportunities to deserving students.

IIT Bombay Location

The institution is located in Mumbai's Powai district (Bombay). Buses, trains, and airlines of city of Mumbai connect to the campus. IIT Bombay is around 10 kilometers from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The domestic airport is around 15 kilometers from the main campus. For students arriving by Central Railway, the nearest stations to IIT Bombay are KanjurMarg, Ghatkopar, and Vikhroli. If you're taking the Western Railway, the closest stations are Andheri, Malad, Bandra, and Goregaon. The university is also well-served by local railways. IIT Bombay Admission

Candidates can apply for admission to undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programmes. JEE Advanced results are taken into account by IIT Bombay for admission to UG courses other than B.Des. Candidates who pass UCEED get admitted to IIT Bombay's B.Des programme. IIT Bombay provides M.Tech., M.Sc., Executive M.B.A., and M.Sc. Ph.D. programmes at the postgraduate level. Admission to all PG degrees at IIT Bombay is based on entrance examinations.

IIT Bombay PhD Admission Process

The institute provides a total of 24 PhD courses. The Ph.D. program is available in a variety of specializations, including Computer Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and many more. The Ph.D. programmes are 6 years in duration.

IIT Bombay Placements

For the academic year 2023-24, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) wrapped up its phase 1 placement cycle with participation from 388 organizations, both domestic and international. Within this phase, 85 job offers boasted a CTC exceeding Rs 1 crore per annum. The phase 1 placements showcased an average annual salary of Rs 24.02 lakh, a rise from the previous year's average of Rs 21.82 lakh.

By December 20, 2023, IIT Bombay students secured a total of 1,340 job offers, leading to 1,188 successful placements. Notably, seven students landed roles in public sector units (PSUs). Among the 297 pre-placement offers (PPOs) stemming from internships, 258 were accepted.

Furthermore, students were presented with 63 international job opportunities spanning locations such as Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Due to Covid - 19 pandemic regulations in academic year 2021 - 22, the firms hired virtually all through the placement season. In contrast to the previous year, the number of enrolled students in the 2021-2022 placement drive has grown by 15%. Overall, average compensation packages based on CTC provided grew by 27.3% year on year, rising from Rs. 17.91 LPA to Rs. 22.8 LPA.

IIT Bombay Scholarship

A significant number of scholarships are awarded to students each year. Scholarships are awarded to students at IIT Bombay depending on their academic achievement. Students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds are also eligible to apply for the scholarships. The college's scholarships are available to undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students.
