UGC NET Exam 2026: Provisional Answer Key (This Week), Final Answer Key, Result

UGC NET Exam 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is all set to release the University Grants Commission–National Eligibility Test (UGC–NET) 2026 provisional answer key this week for all those who appeared for the examination. The UGC NET Answer Key 2026 link will be activated on the official website - ugcnet.nta.nic.in. To check and download the answer key, candidates will be required to enter their application number, password, or date of birth in the login window once activated. The UGC NET 2026 exam was conducted from June 22 to 30 & July 5, 2026. The UGC NET Admit Card 2026 was released on June 17. The authority released the UGC NET City Intimation Slip 2026 on the official website on June 10, 2026.  NTA released the detailed UGC NET Exam Schedule on the official portal on June 6, 2026.

The UGC NET 2026 registration process started on April 29, 2026, and concluded on May 24, 2026. Once the registration process was over, the NTA opened the UGC NET 2026 application correction window for the June session exam. The correction window opened on May 26 and closed on May 28, 2026. Before filling out the application form, candidates were advised to go through the UGC NET 2026 June eligibility criteria. The UGC NET 2026 notification was released on April 29, 2026, on the official website. The NTA conducts the UGC NET exam to determine the eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship in various subjects. The NTA conducts the UGC NET exam twice a year, in June and December.

UGC NET Application Form 2026

Candidates interested in applying for the UGC NET exam had to fill out the application form online once. Further, candidates had to know that the application fee varied for different categories. Once the candidate successfully submitted the application form, he or she was eligible for the UGC NET admit card.

Candidates can fill the UGC NET application form by following the steps given below: 

Step 1: Visit the official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in

Step 2: Click on the link for UGC NET December registration 

Step 3: Now, register online by entering all the required information

Step 4: Once registered, candidates will be able to log in to the application portal using the credentials generated

Step 5: Fill out the application form by entering all the details

Step 6: Upload scanned copies of your signature and passport-size photo. JPEG format should be used for both images

Step 7: Now, pay the application fee for UGC NET online

Step 8: Submit and save the form

Step 9: Download the form and keep the hard copy for future use. 

UGC NET Application Fees 2026

Candidates should know that the UGC NET application fee differs for candidates belonging to different categories. Aspirants can pay the application fees through Paytm payment gateway/debit card/credit card/net banking/UPI, and BI/HDFC/Syndicate/ICICI card. 

UGC NET 2026: General regulations for appointment of teachers

As per the latest regulations, if the candidate’s subject at the undergraduate or postgraduate level is different from their PhD subject, they will be considered eligible for appointment as a teacher in the subject in which they obtained the PhD. 

Moreover, if a candidate appeared for NET or SET exams in subjects different from their undergraduate level subjects, they will be eligible for appointment as a teacher in the subject they qualified in these exams. 

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2026

One of the most important factors that play an essential role for candidates in appearing for the UGC NET is the UGC NET eligibility criteria. In order to apply for the UGC NET exam, candidates should have an idea about the eligibility criteria for the teaching exam. 

The eligibility criteria for the Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship of the UGC NET exam are standardised by the University Grant Commission. If the candidate fulfils the eligibility criteria, then he or she is eligible to apply for the examination.

The NTA also releases the eligibility criteria, which are based on the following factors:

• Age Limit and Relaxation
• Education Qualification 
• Reservation 

UGC NET Age Limit & Relaxation

Candidates who are interested in appearing for the UGC NET JRF should meet the age limit in order to appear for the exam. A candidate's age should not be more than 30 years on the first day of the month in which the UGC NET 2026 exam comes to an end. 

On the other hand, the age limit for the candidates who are interested in appearing for the UGC NET Assistant Professor exam should know that there is no age limit to apply for the post. 

The NTA provides a specific age relaxation to students who belong to certain categories, as per the rules issued by the Government of India. 

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2026: Educational Qualifications

The Government of India issues the rule of reservation policy applicable to the UGC NET exam. Further, the seats in the central universities and institutes which are deemed to be universities are reserved accordingly. 

UGC NET Syllabus 2026

The UGC NET syllabus 2026 was released along with the notification on April 29, 2026, on the official website. The syllabus plays an essential role for all the candidates who are appearing for the examination. Meanwhile, candidates can take a look at the UGC NET syllabus, which consists of two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2, and the syllabi for both papers are different. While Paper 1 is compulsory for all students, Paper 2 is for the subjects that candidates have applied for. The UGC NET Paper 2 has 85 subjects in total. 

UGC NET Exam Pattern 2026

The UGC NET exam is computer-based and consists of Paper 1 and Paper 2. The total number of questions is 150. While Paper 1 consists of 50 questions, Paper 2 consists of 100 questions. The questions are in MCQ form, and each question is of 2 marks. Students should note that there is no negative marking in the exam. 

While the duration for Paper 1 is one hour, Paper 2 is two hours. The UGC NET Paper 1 is 100 marks, whereas Paper 2 is 200 marks. 

UGC NET Paper 1 Exam Pattern 

As per the NTA, Paper 1 of the UGC NET is generic in nature, intending to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. Paper 1 aims to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate and consists of topics including reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness. 

UGC NET Paper 2 Exam Pattern 

According to the NTA, the UGC NET Paper 2 is based on the subject selected by the candidate. All students must appear for Paper 2 of the UGC NET. Candidates are only supposed to appear in the subject of their Post-Graduation.   

UGC NET Answer Key 2026

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the UGC NET provisional answer key this week for all subjects on the website ugcnet.nta.ac.in for candidates to challenge. The initial answer key is provisional in nature. In case candidates are not satisfied with the answer key, they are allowed to raise objections online. The challenge window for the UGC NET answer key is open on the official website - ugcnet.nta.ac.in. Here are the easy steps to download the answer key from the official NTA website:

UGC NET Result 2026

The NTA will announce the UGC NET result 2026 once the exams are successfully concluded. The result is prepared based on the final answer key. As per past years' trends, the results for the UGC NET exam are announced within a few weeks after the examination is concluded.

Candidates will be able to download their results in the form of a scorecard. Candidates who do not qualify in the UGC NET exam can appear for it again in the next session.
