Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Bhubaneswar was established in 1992 as an Industrial Training Institute in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. It changed its name to KIIT University and then renamed back to KIIT following the UGC guidelines. It is a private deemed university with emphasis on engineering and technology programs. In 2019, the Ministry of HRD recognized KIIT as an Institute of Eminence. The National Board of Accreditation has given it Tier-1 accreditation. ARIIA 2021 named KIIT as India's finest private institution in innovation and self-financing. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) placed it 16th among all Indian universities in 2023, 29th overall, and 39th among engineering colleges. In terms of global rankings, the Times Higher Education World University rankings placed KIIT in the 801–1000 rank band.

There is a fee of around INR 1,75,000 per semester for B.Tech, and INR 1,17,000 per semester for M.Tech at KIIT. For BA (Hons) & MA programs, the fee at KIIT is INR 60,000 per annum. The University has established a number of different scholarship programs to support deserving students. The amount and duration of the scholarship are subject to change at any moment. The institution provides financial aid to deserving students through a variety of scholarships, including the Pradyumna Bal Memorial Scholarship, the KIIT Poverty-Cum-Merit Scholarship, the KIIT Merit Scholarship, and the KIITEE Merit Scholarship.

KIIT Location

Located at Patia, Bhubaneswar, Odisha on KIIT road, the institute is well connected via all major modes of transport. The nearest airport from the campus, with a distance of merely 14 km, is Biju Patnaik International Airport. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the institute from there. Similarly,  Patia P.H. Railway Station is just 4 km away from the campus. The nearest bus stop, the closest when compared to other modes of transport, is KIIT Bus Stop which is just 230 meters away from the campus. 

KIIT Courses

Over 100 programs at the UG, PG, and PhD levels are available at KIIT. It provides 34 undergraduate, 32 graduate, 10 integrated, 11 doctorate, and 7 postdoctoral research programs in the areas of management, law, cinema and media, humanities, yoga, and sports in addition to science and engineering, medical science, and management. As one of India's first educational institutions, it has chess in its curriculum. Admissions to the flagship B.Tech. programs are only awarded based on merit as determined by KIITEE test results. GATE scores are used to admit students to the MTech program. KLSAT (KIIT Law School Admission Test), an all-India written test, is used to admit students to the KIIT law school.

B.Sc Nursing

Completion of 10+2 in relevant subjects (PCB) with minimum 60% marks, along with a valid score in KIITEE

Biotechnology (Dual Degree)

Completion of 10+2 in relevant subjects (PCM) with minimum 60% marks, along with a valid score in KIITEE

BA LLB/ BBA LLB/ B.Sc LLB

Completion of 10+2 with minimum 45% marks, along with a valid score in KITEE

B.Arch

Completion of 10+2 in relevant subjects (PCM) with minimum 60% marks, along with a valid score in KIITEE

NATA score is also accepted 

Lower age should be 17 years as on 31.12.2022 & upper age limit should be maximum 35 years as on 31.12.2022

B.Des

Completion of 10+2 in any stream with minimum 50% marks, along with a valid score in KITEE

Should have born on or after 01.07.2000

BBA

Completion of 10+2 with minimum 50% marks, along with a valid score in KITEE

BCA

Completion of 10+2 in any stream, but mathematics as a mandot subject, along with a valid score in KITEE

B.Sc

Completion of 10+2 in relevant subjects (PCM) with minimum 60% marks, along with a valid score in KIITEE

B.Com

Pass in 10+2 in any stream with at least 50% marks and having Mathematics / Business Mathematics & Statistics as one of the subjects in 10+2 level, along with a valid KITEE score

BA

Pass in 10+2 or equivalent with at least 50% marks, along with a valid score in KITEE

M.Tech

B.E. or B.Tech. or equivalent Degree  in respective branches of Engineering with a First Class or equivalent CGPA or First Class MCA / First Class M.Sc. in (Comp/IT/ETC), along with a valid score in KITEE

GATE-qualified candidates having a valid score/required score by the institute will not have to appear for the entrance examination, and will also be given preference 

MCA

Graduation with minimum 50% marks or equivalent having mathematics either in 10+2 or graduation level as one of the subjects, along with a valid score in KITEE

M.Sc

Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science/ Agriculture/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary / Engineering / Technology / Medicine (MBBS/BDS) with minimum 55% marks

M.Sc Nursing

Candidate should be a registered Nurse or Registered midwife or equivalent with any state Nursing Registration Council.

Completion of B.Sc.Nursing/B.Sc.Hons.Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc Nursing with Minimum of 55% marks

MBA

Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks, along with a valid score in exams like CAT/ MAT/ GMAT/ ATMA/ CMAT/ XAT/ KIITEE Management/ KIITEE

LLM

Completion of  B.A.LLB/BBA LLB/B.Sc.LLB/B.L, degree or an equivalent degree with minimum 50% marks, along with a valid score in KITEE

M.Com

COmpletion of graduation in commerce or management related disciple with minimum 50% marks, along with a valid score in KITEE

MA

Graduation is related discipline according to the specialization with minimum 50% marks, along with a valid score in KITEE

Master of Public Health

Bachelor’s degree in any Health Science discipline (MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS BNYS/BPT/BSc Nursing/BPharm)  with a minimum of 50% marks 

Master of Hospital Administration

Bachelor’s degree in any Health Science discipline (MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS BNYS/BPT/BSc Nursing/BPharm)  with a minimum of 50% marks 

Master of Mass Communication (Integrated)

Completion of graduation in related field with minimum 50% marks, along with a valid score in KITEE

P.hD

M.Tech /ME/ MCA/MBA or equivalent Degree with minimum 60% marks or CGPA or M.Sc./MA/M.Com/LLM or an equivalent degree with minimum of 55% marks 

KIIT Admission

Many candidates from all over the country apply for admission at KIIT Bhubaneswar, and many of them are selected to be a part of this institution mainly through the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Entrance Examination (KIITEE), further the candidates have to participate in the counseling process. Although, the admission process may minorly differ from course to course. 

KIIT UG Admission Process

  • Eligible students need to register themselves for KITEE
  • Next, candidates need to sit for and obtain a valid score in KITEE
  • A list of shortlisted candidates will be released on the basis of marks secured by the students
  • A merit list will be prepared for the counseling process according to the KITEE cut-off
  • Note: Candidates appearing for B.Arch will be given preference if they have a valid NATA score
  • After the counseling, candidates will be allotted seats on the basis of of their overall performance
  • Selected candidates will have to verify their documents and pay the required fee

KIIT PG Admission Process

  • Eligible students need to register themselves for KITEE
  • Next, candidates need to sit for and obtain a valid score in KITEE

  • A separate merit list will be prepared for the PG counseling process according to the KITEE cut-off
  • After the counseling, candidates will be allotted seats on the basis of of their overall performance

KIIT P.hD Admission Process

  • Interested candidates must will the admission application form and submit the required documents
  • Candidates will have to appear for a specific written test conducted by the university itself
  • Candidates having qualified the test will have to sit for an interview
  • Selection will be made on the basis of of the overall performance of the candidates
  • Selected candidates will have to verify their documents and pay the required fee

KIIT Facilities

In the temple city of Bhubaneswar, the institute is spread over twelve beautifully manicured and environmentally friendly campuses totaling 6,177 acres. KIIT has 2500 faculty members and 30,000 students. Each academic department operates on a separate, autonomous campus. For its students, research fellows, academics, and a large portion of its staff, KIIT offers on-campus housing options. 

Hostel- With a capacity for 10,180 and 5,648 students, respectively, there are 20 hostels for men and 11 hostels for women. All the hostel blocks have attached canteens that serve food from indian to continental which is healthy and also delicious. Other basic necessities are also provided to the hostel residents.

Sports- The campus also contains sports facilities with a swimming pool, along with a gym. The campus has 16 sports complexes made for the overall development of the students.

Library- The central library is the heart of the campus as it provides a place for the students to study and along with that, it provides them with material. It has a total of 1363885 books, 43193 e-journals, 169470 eBooks, 2982 rare books, and 4.3+ million thesis and dissertations. 

Green campus- The campus firmly believes in protecting the environment and hence counts its carbon footprint annually along with providing a campus full of greenery to the students. 

ICT- A dedicated ICT cell has been set up in the campus for all the IT related needs of the students. It has the expertise to provide professional services to the students and the faculty members.
