JoSAA Counselling 2025: Registration Date, Round wise Seat Allotment, Cut off

JoSAA Counselling 2025 - The Joint Seat Allocation Authority conducts the counselling for students who qualified in the JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams. The counselling is conducted online in five rounds. After each round of counselling, JoSAA releases the seat allotment list for registered candidates. Aspirants who are allotted seats must self-report to the allocated institute. The seat allocation is based on candidates' preference, rank, and category. JoSAA 2025 Seat Matrix also released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority. A total of 62,853 seats are available for B.Tech admission including 3310 female Supernumerary seats.

• Candidates qualified in the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) can start filling AAT-specific choices from June 8, 2025. The final deadline to lock choices and complete registration is June 12, 2025 at 5 PM.

JoSAA counselling streamlines the admission process for candidates willing to take admission in engineering programs through the JEE exam. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority provides a single online platform for seat allocation across various participating institutes. Through JoSAA counselling 2025, candidates can choose their preferences for programs and colleges based on their JEE Main and JEE Advanced ranks.

In BE/ BTech programs offered by IITs, admissions through JoSAA are conducted on the basis of JEE Advanced rank. Meanwhile, in case of NITs, IIEST, IIITs and other GFTIs, admissions are conducted on the basis of JEE Main rank secured by the candidate. What is JoSAA?

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA)  conducts a centralised counselling process for candidates who have qualified in the JEE Main and JEE Advanced examinations. 

JoSAA was established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to manage and oversee the seat allocation process for admissions into various UG engineering programs at participating institutes, including Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) across India.

To participate in JoSAA counselling 2025, candidates must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:

JoSAA 2025 Counselling Procedure

The JoSAA 2025 counselling process involves the following stages:

• Registration: Candidates need to register on the JoSAA website using their JEE Main or JEE Advanced roll number and password.
• Choice Filling and Locking: Registered candidates must fill in their preferred choices of institutes and programs in order of preference. It is important for candidates to carefully consider the available options and lock their choices before the specified deadline.
• Seat Allocation: JoSAA conducts multiple rounds of seat allocation based on the choices opted by the candidates, category of the candidate, and merit secured in the JEE exam. Seat allocation results are published on the JoSAA website after each round.
• Acceptance of Seat and Reporting: Candidates who are allocated seats are required to either accept the allotted seat, participate in further rounds for better options, or withdraw from the counselling process. Those who accept their seats must report to the designated institutes for document verification and admission formalities.

Documents Required for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs

Candidates must carry all the necessary documents in original and photocopy format as per the instructions provided by JoSAA. Candidates need to submit the following documents for registration/online reporting during JoSAA counselling 2024:

• Class X Mark Sheet/Certificate, Aadhar Card (for Date of Birth)
• Class XII Mark Sheet and Certificate (Qualifying Examination)
• Certificate of category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS), if applicable
• PwD certificate, if applicable
• Crossed Bank Cheque copy / Image of Passbook with bank account details
• Medical Certificate in specified format
• OCI certificate/ PIO card, if applicable
• Passport/Citizenship certificate, if applicable

JoSAA 2025 Registration and Choice Filling

To register for JoSAA 2025, candidates can follow the steps outlined below.

• Visit the official website, josaa.nic.in.
• Click on the ‘JoSAA 2025 Registration’ link.
• Candidates are required to login through JEE Main/Advanced Application number and password.
• Candidates will be redirected to a new window displaying the details of the candidate as filled during the JEE Main/Advanced application process.
• Review the details carefully and click on ‘Submit’.
• Candidates must then fill in their preferred choices of academic programmes as well as institutes.
• Filling-in of choices on the online portal is free of cost, that is, candidates are not required to pay any fee.
• It is important for candidates to lock their choices on/before the last day of choice filling. If candidates do not lock their choices, last saved choices will be locked automatically upon reaching the deadline for choice filling.

JoSAA Mock Allotment 2025

The JoSAA mock allotment is conducted to help candidates make informed decisions about their choices before the actual seat allocation rounds begin. It allows them to evaluate and adjust their preferences if needed, based on the mock allotment results and their personal preferences regarding colleges, courses, and branches.

JoSAA Seat Allotment 2025

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts the seat allotment process on the basis of ranks secured in JEE Main or JEE Advanced exam. The seat JoSAA allotment process consists of a total of six rounds. During each round, candidates are allocated seats based on their choices of institutes and programs, their category, and the merit rank secured in JEE exam.

After each round of seat allotment, candidates are informed about the allocated seats through the JoSAA website. If a candidate wishes to accept the allocated seat, he/she must opt for any one of the options ‘Freeze’, ‘Slide’ or ‘Float’ for the choice of academic program.

The seat allotment process continues until all the available seats are filled or until the counselling process concludes. JoSAA also conducts special rounds of seat allotment to fill any remaining vacancies after the regular rounds are completed.

Candidates are required to report to the allotted institute for document verification after accepting the allocated seat. Candidates must carefully follow the instructions provided by JoSAA and complete the admission process within the specified deadlines.

JoSAA Counselling 2025 Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF)

Candidates who are allocated seats are required to pay the seat acceptance fee to complete the JoSAA process and avail the seat in IITs or NIT+ System. The documents uploaded by the candidate will not be verified unless he/she pays the seat acceptance fee. Admission fee varies across the institutes/category of candidates and is different from the seat acceptance fee.
