IIT Ropar: Ranking, Course, Fees, Admission & Placements

IIT Ropar is one of the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, under the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act in 2011. It is a government institute and a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International.IIT Ropar has been ranked 22nd and 33rd by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023 for the Engineering and Overall categories, respectively. It has also been ranked 86th by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023.

The IIT Ropar BTech program is a four-year (or five-year, for dual degree programs) undergraduate engineering program with a tuition fee of INR 8 lakhs to INR 8.92 lakhs. The program is open to students who have passed Class 12th with a minimum of 75% aggregate and have qualified for the JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams. Admissions are based on the merit list prepared by the institute after the JoSSA counseling process.

IIT Ropar offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in a variety of fields. At the undergraduate level, students can choose from seven specializations in the B.Tech. program, which is a four- to five-year program. The postgraduate programs include the M.Tech. (two to five years) and the M.Sc. (two years), which are offered in seven and three specializations, respectively.

The opening and closing ranks for B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering at IIT Ropar for the general category under the All India quota are 9385 and 10413, respectively. The cutoffs are different for other categories, female candidates, and students from different states. For example, the opening and closing ranks for female candidates under the All India quota are 17320 and 17949, respectively. The cutoffs are determined by a number of factors, including the availability of seats, the difficulty level of the JEE Advanced exam, and the previous year's cutoffs. Applicants are advised to confirm their category before checking the cutoffs.
