GATE Registration 2026: Date, Application Form, Fee, Form Correction

GATE Registration 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, has extended the last day to submit applications for the GATE 2026 till October 7, 2025, without a late fee and till October 13, 2025 with a late fee of INR 1000. IIT Guwahati released the GATE application form 2026 on August 28, 2026. The complete schedule has been released by IIT Guwahati on the official website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in. As per the schedule, GATE exam 2026 will be conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026.

Eligible candidates seeking admission to the M.Tech programme in any engineering college in India can register themselves on the official website of the conducting body. Aspirants must check out the GATE 2026 eligibility criteria before filling out the application form. Candidates for the GATE 2026 exam must have completed their undergraduate degree or be appearing in their third year of the degree/programme. Following the successful submission of the application form, GATE admit card will be released on the official website tentatively in January 2026.

For the year 2026, candidates from General and other categories are required to pay a registration fee of INR 2000 while the registration fee for candidates from SC/ST/PwD and female candidates is INR 1000. Candidates will be charged addtion INR 500 for applications from October 8 to 13, 2025.

After filling out the application form, applicants will also get a chance to correct/modify their mistakes through the form correction window. However, no further chances will be given to candidates to modify their application form if they fail to do it within the due date.

How to Apply for GATE Exam 2026?

Aspiring candidates can check the steps below to fill out the GATE 2026 application form:

• Visit the official website of GATE (gate2026.iitg.ac.in)
• The first step is to Register yourself on the official website by providing a valid Email ID, password, and a mobile number.
• Once candidates have successfully registered themselves, they will receive a GOAP enrollment ID on their provided email ID.
• Login to the GATE portal called GOAPS using the enrollment ID.
• The GATE application form will appear on your screen.
• Fill out the personal and academic details asked in the application form.
• Upload all supporting documents (Scanned)
• Pay the GATE 2026 application fee
• Submit the application form and take a printout of the receipt.

While registering for the GATE 2026 exam, aspirants will have to fill out various details in the application form. These details are as follows:

• Personal Details including Name, Parent’s Name, Email Address, Mobile Number, and Permanent & Correspondence Address.

• Choose subjects for which you want to appear for the exam

GATE Application Form 2026: Supporting Documents

During the time of registration, applicants will have to submit a few documents proving their eligibility for the exam. These supporting documents are listed below:

• Eligibility Certificate (Scanned copy in a PDF format)
• Category Certificate (if applicable)
• Pwd Certificate (If applicable)
• Any Valid ID proof such as Aadhar Card, Driving License, Voter ID Card, etc.
• Candidate’s passport-size photograph (scanned copy)
• Candidate’s signature (scanned copy)

GATE Application Fee 2026

Candidates must pay the GATE 2026 application fee after completing the online application form. The application fee's specifics and available payment methods are listed below. Keep in mind that the application fee is not refundable.

Note: The application fee mentioned above is for one paper. If a candidate chooses more than one subject, then he/she has to pay the application fee accordingly.

GATE Form Correction 2026

Applicants will be given a choice to correct/edit their GATE application form. The steps to edit the application form are as follows:

• Visit the official website of GATE
• Click on the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS)
• Enter your login credentials
• Edit the application form wherever required.
• Submit the form

Note: Aspirants are also required to pay a fee for making changes in the application form as well. The exception is given only in cases where candidates have to modify their choice of examination city. Below are the changes/modifications for which candidates have to pay the additional fee:

• Change in Subject: Rs 500
• Additional Subject: Rs 500
• Change of gender to female: Rs 500
• Change of gender from female to any other gender: Rs 1350
• Change of category to SC/ST: Rs 500
• Change of category from SC/ST to any other: Rs 1350
• Change from Non-PwD to PwD: Rs 500
• Change from PwD to Non-PwD: Rs 1350
• Other Changes: Rs 500
