The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) was established in the year 2008. The institute is situated in Palaj, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, along the shores of the Sabarmati River. IIT Gandhinagar is the first campus in India to receive the highest rating of 5 stars from the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment for Large Developments (GRIHA LD) for its efforts to minimize its environmental impact. It was observed that UG placements reached as high as 81%, also shows improvement in PG placements (MTech: 71% to 78%, MSc: 38% to 51%). Salaries also rises in the prercentage as in UG packages it rose 25%. 68% of Offers were dominated by core sectors.

IIT Gandhinagar has steadily improved its overall NIRF ranking in the last five years. It was ranked 51 in 2019, 35 in 2020, 33 in 2021, and 37 in 2022. IIT Gandhinagar offers various UG, PG and doctoral programmes including B.Tech., M.A., M.Tech., M.Sc., and Ph.D. programmes. The eligibility criteria & admission details of some of the main courses offered by IIT Gandhinagar have been shared below:

IIT Gandhinagar B.Tech Admission

To be admitted to the B.Tech program, applicants must:

• Appear for the JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams
• Secure a qualifying score in both exams
• Participate in the JoSAA counseling process
• Once the counseling process is over, the institute will evaluate the candidates' performance based on their exam results
• If selected, the candidates will be required to pay the necessary fees to confirm their admission

IIT Gandhinagar M.Tech Admission

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must have a minimum of 55% marks or 5.5 on a 10-point scale in a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or Science (or equivalent) in the relevant discipline. The minimum requirement is 50% marks for SC/ST candidates
• Candidates must have a valid GATE score (at the time of interview/written test) to be eligible for the M.Tech programme. However, GATE is not required for the PGDIIT programme
• B.Tech. graduates from the IITs with a CGPA/CPI of 8.0 or above (on a scale of 10) are eligible to be admitted to the M.Tech programme without having to appear in GATE.
• The eligibility criteria mentioned above are the minimum requirements. The individual departments may use higher cut-off levels for shortlisting candidates
• Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD categories are eligible for relaxations in the selection criteria, as per norms

Admission Process

• To apply for a regular MTech programme at IIT, candidates must have a COAP registration number, unless they have completed your BTech from an IIT
• Candidates will be required to accept their admission offer on the COAP portal
• Students who have done/doing their BTech from an IIT with a CPI of 8.0 or above are eligible to apply without a GATE score or COAP registration number
• However, if candidates do fill out their COAP registration number, their application will be processed as per COAP norms
• Admission to the MTech programme is generally offered on the basis of an interview and/or a written test
• The institute will invite a limited number of candidates for a written test (if any) and/or interview based on their academic records and/or GATE score
• The written test (if any) is generally based on topics related to general aptitude, engineering mathematics, and basic courses in various disciplines up to the 3rd year of the undergraduate program
• Candidates who do not qualify in the written test need not appear for the interview
• Reserved category candidates will be given due relaxation in cutoff marks as per the norms

• Exceptional cases: In exceptional cases, the Institute may consider applications outside of the announced admission cycles. These cases will be reviewed by a duly constituted selection committee

IIT Gandhinagar Placements

IIT Gandhinagar Placement 2025 is expected to be a successas we saw in year 2023 The Career Development Services (CDS) in IIT Gandhinagar has reached out to almost 2,000 organizations; 358 more than the previous year. As a result, the placement statistics improved, and 203 job offers were received and 71.15% of students scooped at least one offer. The number of UG placements came down to 81%, slightly lower than that of 92% last year, however, PG placements were rather impressive — the growth in MTech placements improved from 71% to 78% and in MSc from 38% to 51%. The average and median salary packages for UG rose upto 25% while the median decided to go up at 28%. Nevertheless, core sectors still made up 68 percent of the job offers. Although most students preferred core roles, it was found that there is no awareness regarding opportunities in other (non core) sectors. As part of the placement drive, the companies participating were leading businesses with the uppermost roles and attractive packages on offer to the batch 2023 of IIT Gandhinagar, thus surpassing the record of placement.
