National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra, popularly known as NIT Kurukshetra, was established in 1968 as Regional Engineering College Kurukshetra. In 2002, the institute was given the name NIT Kurukshetra under the NIT Act along with the deemed university status. NIT Kurukshetra was also recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India in 2008. The institute is ranked #58 in the engineering category by NIRF Ranking 2023. It is also ranked #25 among the top colleges for B.E/B.Tech program by The Week 2021 ranking. 

NIT Kurukshetra B.Tech fees for the whole program is INR 5,84,900 excluding hostel fees. The institute charges INR 2,25,200 for MBA & MCA programs, and INR 3,28,200 for MCA programs. The college has a policy of providing scholarships to students who are struggling financially. Applicants with yearly family incomes of less than INR 1 lakh are offered a 100% tuition fee waiver, while candidates with annual family incomes of INR 1 lakh to INR 5 lakh are given a tuition fee concession. Additionally, it provides ST students with National Overseas Scholarships.

The university is located near the Pipli area of Kurukshetra, Haryana, India. The campus is about 10 km. from Pipli, which is a well known road junction on the Sher Shah Suri Marg and is about 5km from Kurukshetra Railway station. The nearest airport from the campus is Chandigarh International Airport, which is located 78.7 km away from the institution. Similarly, the nearest railway station is the Jyotisar Halt Railway Station. 

NIT Kurukshetra Courses

NIT Kurukshetra offers admission to B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA, MBA, and PhD programs at UG, PG, and doctoral level. It also offers certificate programs in Data Science & Big Data. NIT Kurukshetra B.Tech admission for 1147 seats is done on the basis of JEE Main score followed by JoSAA counseling. At NIT Kurukshetra, admission to other programs like M.Tech, MBA, and MCA is based on GATE, CAT, and NIMCET exam scores. The institute prepares the merit list for students clearing the minimum cutoff in these exams. For PhD admission, the institute conducts the entrance examination for aspiring candidates.

The institute's campus covers more than 300 acres of picturesque landscape and has all necessary support services for more than 4800 students and professors. Some of the most appreciated facilities are:

Hostel- The institution provides residential facilities for all its students, and even faculty. There are 11 hostels for boys, 4 for females, and accommodation blocks for faculty members. 

Sports- There are sports complexes within the campus, along with a well-equipped gym. Library- At present, the campus has a very spacious central library that caters to the academic and research needs of the students. It has a wide variety of collections that includes books, e-books, journals, reference books, and documents. There are a total of 53189 library books, 10928 e-Books, and the total documents are 165039. 

Convenience store- The institute comprises a shopping complex which can be accessed by the students for their daily needs. 

Overall, the institute has a modernized IT infrastructure that also includes banking facilities and guest rooms, in addition to being a wifi zone Wi-Fi Networking, wherein students can use the internet 24/7.
