UGC NET Cut Off 2025: Category Wise JRF, AP Cutoff, Download PDF

UGC NET Cut Off 2025 is released at the official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in. The National Testing Agency (NTA) releases the results for UGC NET exam before the final cutoff. Candidates will be able to check the scorecards on the official website. The UGC NET cut-off list is prepared on the basis of the overall performance of candidates, number of candidates appeared, total subjects, and categories of the candidates. 

The cut-off is released after the announcement of UGC NET Result 2025. According to the official notice shared by the UGC, the minimum qualifying mark for the general category is 40% whereas for the reserved category is 35% for both papers. The UGC NET cut off for the JRF is usually higher than compared for the Assistant Professor. However, the difference between the cut offs depends on the difficulty level of the exam. Candidates must know that the cut-off is released subject-wise as well as category-wise.

NTA has released the provisional answer keys and recorded responses for the UGC-NET June 2025 examination on July 5, 2025. The challenge window is open from July 6 to July 8, 2025, until 5:00 PM. The final results will be prepared based on the revised answer key. 

UGC NET June 2025: Expected Cut-off

With the release of the provisional answer key for the UGC NET June 2025 examination, candidates across India are now keenly awaiting the announcement of the official cut-off marks. The cut-off marks play a crucial role in determining eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) positions in universities and colleges. NTA will announce the official cut-off after resolving answer key challenges and finalising results. 

Factors Influencing the Expected Cut Off

Exam Difficulty:

The UGC NET June 2025 exam was conducted for 85 subjects between June 25 and June 29, 2025. Initial feedback suggests that the overall difficulty level was moderate, with some subjects seeing a few tricky questions.

Number of Candidates:
A high number of candidates appeared for the exam, increasing competition and potentially impacting the cut-off.

Previous Years’ Trends:
Historically, the cut off for General category candidates for Assistant Professor eligibility has ranged from 40% to 50% aggregate marks, while for JRF it is slightly higher.

How Cut Off is Calculated

• The UGC NET cut off is calculated as the minimum aggregate marks required in both Paper I and Paper II.
• Only those candidates who score equal to or above the cut-off in their respective category and subject will be declared qualified.
• Separate cut-offs are released for Assistant Professor and JRF.

How To Calculate UGC NET Cut Off Marks?

The NTA assures that the qualified candidates should be equal to 6% of candidates who appear for the exam. Further, the slots that are available for the candidates are according to the government rules on the reservation. 

When the UGC NET Cut Off is prepared a bunch of different factors are kept in consideration. Further, marks obtained by the candidate in different slots also add up in calculating the Cut Off.

UGC NET Cut Off 2025: What's next?

First, the students either need to clear the UGC NET exam or the JRF exam. If a student has passed the UGC NET exam, then he or she will be given a stipend of Rs 8,000 per month, whereas candidates who will clear the JRF exam will receive a monthly payment of Rs 35,000. However, the stipend for the JRF may vary from different universities.

Candidates who will clear the NET exam will be eligible to secure the position of Assistant Professor, whereas students who will pass the JRF exam are assured to secure a position of Assistant Professor in universities, and colleges across India. 

In order to take the position of Assistant Professor, the student who has cleared the NET has to appear for two other rounds including WAT and interview based on which their selection process will be determined. On the other hand, students who clear the JRF can directly appear for the interview round and are allowed to skip the WAT test. However, even in some scenarios, the interview for the students who have clear JRF is also exempted. 

Apart from working as Assistant Professors, students can also work in private sector firms including ONGC, NTPC, EdCIL, etc. However, candidates will only be appointed in these private sector firms only if they have certain years of experience.
