NIT Raipur: Josaa Counselling 2024, Admission, Placements, Cutoffs and Courses & Fees

The National Institute of Technology, Raipur (NIT Raipur), formerly known as Government Engineering College, is a public engineering institute located in Raipur, Chattisgarh. Established in the year 1956, NIT Raipur is ranked #70 in the engineering category by NIRF Ranking 2023. 

The flagship courses offered by NIT Raipur are B.Tech and M.Tech. Candidates seeking admission to the B.Tech. course should have a Higher Secondary Certificate degree (10+2) with 75% marks. The tuition fee for enrollment in any B.Tech. program is INR 62,500 per semester. Seats will be allocated based on the JEE Main rank followed by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSSA) counselling. The total number of students admitted by NIT Raipur for the academic year 2021-2022 in UG courses was 1118. One of the most competitive specialisations in B.Tech programs at NIT Raipur is Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). 

Whereas, for admission to M.Tech. programs, the candidate should have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of  6.5 CGPA or 60% marks for the GEN/EWS/OBC category. On the other hand, SC/ST/PWD category candidates need a 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks for admission. Candidates will be allocated seats based on their GATE score followed by a Centralised Counselling (CCMT). In the academic year 2021-22, NIT Raipur undertook 37 students in their PG courses.  The registration for CCMT is Open till June 7, 2024.

In the academic year 2021-22, NIT Raipur placed 627 B.Tech students with a median salary package of INR 9 LPA. Whereas in M.Tech courses in the year 2021-22, 37 students bagged a median salary of INR 6.5 LPA. The average CTC as per the placement statistics (2021-22) was INR 10.1 LPA. NIT Raipur Admission 2024

NIT Raipur offers 41 undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, all of which require admission through national-level entrance exams, followed by a counselling process (JoSSA/CCMT). International students will require Direct Admission of Students from Abroad (DASA) Counselling for admission in M.Tech/MCA programs.

NIT Raipur Admission: B.Tech/B.Arch programs 2024

For admission to undergraduate programs, NIT Raipur offers four-year B.Tech programs and five-year B.Arch programs in disciplines like engineering, architecture, etc. For admission to B.Tech programs candidates will require a JEE Main score followed by JoSAA counseling. NIT Raipur Admission: M.Tech programs 2024

For admission to postgraduate programs, NIT Raipur offers M.Tech. courses in disciplines like Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, IT, and Electronic and Communication Engineering. Candidates need to have a national-level scorecard for entry into any of these courses. The GATE results were announced on March 16, 2024. The CCMT registration windoew is open. NIT Raipur Admission: M.Sc. programs 2024

NIT Raipur offers a two-year masters degree in physics. The selection criteria for this course is IIT JAM followed by CCMN counselling. The online application process for CCMN has started. The important dates for the CCMN are as follows:

NIT Raipur Admission: MCA programs 2024

Apart from flagship courses, NIT Raipur also offers a two-year MCA program in Applied Geology. Admission to this two-year course is based on NIMCET entrance scores, followed by counseling.

NIT Raipur Admission: Ph.D. programs 2024

NIT Raipur offers doctoral degrees in both full-time and part-time modes. The program duration is 3 years for full-time and 6 years for part-time. For admission to this course, candidates have to qualify institute’s entrance test followed by a personal interview round. However, candidates who have qualified GATE/UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/CEED are exempted from the entrance test, but they need to appear for the interview.  The last date to apply for PhD was May 17, 2024.

NIT Raipur Cutoffs 2024

The JEE Main and GATE CCMT cutoffs have not been released for 2024 by conducting bodies. Once released, applicants will be called for counselling or an interview round.

Candidates can check the last year JEE Main cutoff for admission in different disciplines in B.Tech. program. NIT Raipur CSE opening and closing rank was 14610 and 22413 for the home state and 10110 and 12773 for the other states in 2023. The cutoff for different courses is listed below:

NIT Raipur has yet not officially released the placement report for 2023. Earlier in the academic year 2021-22, the average and median package offered by different recruiters at NIT Raipur was INR 10.1 LPA and INR 9 LPA. Top recruiters included Cognizant, Vedanta, Prism, etc. 

NIT Raipur Placement: UG Program 2024

The median package offered at NIT Raipur to its UG students for the academic year 2022 was INR 9 LPA. The placement was bagged by 627 students.

NIT Raipur Placement: PG Program 2024

The median package offered at NIT Raipur to its postgraduate students for the year 2022 is INR 6.5 LPA. A total of 37 students were placed this year. 

NIT Raipur Scholarships 

1. Dr. K. K. Sugandhi Scholarship- An amount of 1100 per month is awarded to a B.Tech second-year student for ten monthly installments who secures the highest CPI (Cumulative Performance Indicator) and who has a family income of less than INR 2.5 lakh per annum. 
2. Sh. Manghandas & Smt. Sundari Devi Hablani Memorial Scholarship- Forty scholarships are awarded in this section (ten from each year of B.Tech) in the amount of INR 15,600 (1st year) & INR 9000 (2nd, 3rd, 4th years). This is a one-time grant for each shortlisted student whose family income is less than INR 1 lakh per annum.
