JEE Advanced 2023 Counselling: Eligibility
The basic eligibility to participate in the counselling round for admission to various engineering programmes at the undergraduate level is to qualify the JEE Advanced 2023 exam. However, students are also required to fulfil other eligibility criteria as well to participate in the JEE Advanced counselling. Below are the eligibility requirements that students must meet:
- Candidates should have secured a JEE Advanced rank in order to participate in the counselling round.
- Candidates must have minimum marks in each subject as well as aggregate in order to participate in the counselling round.
JEE Advanced Counselling Process
The JEE Advanced Counselling process includes broadly five major steps:
Registration: Qualified candidates are required to first register themselves for the counselling round with their roll number and password.
Choice Filling and Locking: Once logged in, candidates are required to fill in their choice of preferences of course, branch and institute. It must be noted that preferences made by candidates are editable until the last date. Hence, candidates must fill in their preferences and finalise/lock it before the last date.
Seat Allotment: After candidates have made their choices, seats will be assigned based on the candidate's rank. Before the actual seat allotment, however, JoSAA will also hold two mock allotments to make sure candidates are familiar with the procedure and know what seats they may anticipate to receive based on the choices they have made. Candidates are also permitted to change their preferences following the simulated seat allocation. Students will have the choice of what to do with their assigned seats after each seat allocation. Candidates will have three opportunities to exercise their choice: Seat Float, Freeze, and Slide.
Reporting to Allotted College: Once seats have been assigned, applicants must report to the Zonal IIT. For document verification and submission of the admission fee, all candidates must be physically present. Students will not be given consideration for seat allotment if they fail to report to the Zonal IIT by the deadline specified, and their seats will be effectively lost.
Granting Provisional Admission: After the candidate's fee has been paid and all of their documents have been satisfactorily verified, candidates will be granted provisional admission. The final allotment letter from the respective college will also be given to the students.
Documents Required for Provisional Admission
While confirming their provisional admission, candidates must submit original documents along with one attested photocopy. The following are the documents that candidates must have with them for confirming their provisional admission:
- JEE Advanced Admit Card
- JEE Advanced Seat Allotment Letter
- Class X Marksheet
- Class XII Marksheet
- Category Certificate (if applicable)
- PwD Certificate (If applicable)
- Testimonials & Passport (For Foreign Nationals)
JEE Advanced Rank List 2023
The JEE Advanced rank list will include the name of those candidates who have secured minimum aggregate marks in Paper 1 & Paper 2 along with minimum marks in each subject (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics). In other words, aspirants would have to appear for both Paper 1 & Paper 2 in order to achieve the desirable rank.
JEE Advanced Tie-Breaking Policy
The following tie-breaking technique shall be utilised if there is a conflict between two or more applicants concerning their total marks:
- Candidates will be granted a higher rank if they have higher positive ranks.
- Candidates will be ranked higher if they receive higher Maths scores.
- Candidates who scored higher in Physics will be ranked higher.
- If there is still a tie, the candidates will be given the same ranks in order to break the tie.
