Government of India Scholarships

Minority Scholarship by Ministry of Minority Affairs

The Ministry of Minority Affairs offers a scholarship scheme known as the Merit-cum-Means Based Scholarship. Here are the key details:

• Purpose: This scholarship aims to provide financial aid to economically disadvantaged yet academically outstanding students from minority communities, enabling them to pursue professional and technical courses.
• Eligibility: To qualify, students must have achieved more than 50% marks (or an equivalent grade) in their previous final examination. Additionally, the annual income of their parents/guardians from all sources should not exceed INR 2.50 lakhs.
• Selection Criteria: The scholarship is exclusively for students from minority sections, which include Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jain, and Zoroastrians (Parsis) as per Section 2 © of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.
• Scholarship Allocation: Approximately 60,000 scholarships are distributed as “Fresh” Scholarships each year, in addition to Renewal scholarships.
