JEE Main 2025 Counselling

In the JEE Mains, there are two types of counselling: JoSAA Counseling and CSAB Counselling. Below is a detailed overview of both types of counselling:

JoSAA 2025 Counselling

In the Joint Seat Allocation Authority Counselling or JoSAA Counseling, both JEE Main and Advanced qualified students who are seeking admission to IITs and NIT+ systems are invited to apply. A total of 6 rounds are conducted in JoSAA counselling.

The counselling is conducted on behalf of 114 institutes in India, including 23 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), 31 National Institute of Technology (NITs), 26 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), IIEST Shibpur, and 33 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs).

CSAB Counselling

CSAB counselling is of 4 types and is conducted in various rounds. Candidates can check the table below to learn more about CSAB counselling in detail:

CSAB Special: The CSAB Special is held to fill the seats left empty at NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs following the six rounds of JoSAA Counselling.

CSAB NEUT: The CSAB NEUT, or Central Seat Allocation Board for North Eastern States and Union Territories, is held for admission to engineering/technology/architecture courses for applicants from the eight North Eastern states and four Union Territories.

These seats are offered under the policy of "Reservation of seats in Degree Level Technical Courses for States / UTs in the AICTE-approved institutions lacking facilities for instruction in particular sectors of Technical Education and for certain groups".

CSAB Supernumerary: The CSAB Supernumerary examination is held to fill supernumerary seats for students from the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The CSAB conducts supernumerary counselling for NITs like NIT Calicut, NIT Durgapur, and SVNIT Surat.

CSAB SFTI: CSAB SFTI Counselling is held for admission to Self Financing Technical Institutes in India.

JEE Main Seat Allotment 2025

The choices made by applicants at JEE Main counselling 2025 are taken into consideration for allocating seats. If there are still open seats after all six rounds of JEE Main counselling, CSAB counselling will take place in two sessions.

JEE Main Spot Counselling

After all counselling rounds have been completed, if any seats remain open, JoSAA will do a round of JEE Main spot counselling. The spot counselling round for JEE Main 2025 is open to those who were not given seats in any prior round. There is no need to register separately for spot counselling. Candidates who are applying for the first time must register for on-site counselling and fill in their preferred choices.

JEE Main 2025 Counselling: Seat Acceptance Fee

The JEE Main counselling seat acceptance fee must be paid online before the online document verification for all applicants who received their seat first time in any round.

The system will instantly redirect to the EPG page if the candidate clicks "Pay Seat Acceptance Fee." To finish the payment procedure, the candidate can choose from a variety of choices, including a Debit Card, Credit Card, and Net Banking, depending on what is most convenient for him or her. The seat allocation result page will be redirected by the payment gateway after a successful transaction. The candidate may download the letter confirming the provisional seat assignment if the payment status is "Success".

Interested candidates can check the category-wise seat acceptance fee for JEE Main counselling in the table below:

JEE Main Counselling Process 2025

JEE Main counselling comprises many steps. To participate in the counselling, candidates must complete each level. The complete step-by-step counselling process is given here.

Step 1: Registration

Candidates must visit JoSAA's official website. Candidates who will take the JEE Main or JEE Advanced in 2025 must register in order to participate in the counselling. The following are the processes for completing the JoSAA 2025 registration form online:

  • Visit the JoSAA official website.
  • Enter your JEE Main 2025 application number, password, and security pin on the login page.
  • Read the directions and then choose the 'I Agree' option.
  • The JoSAA counselling form will be shown.
  • Fill out the form and click the 'Confirm Registration' tab.

Step 2: Choice Filling & Locking

Aspirants will be asked to lock their institution and course options in the second stage. Candidates will be assigned seats depending on their availability and preferences. The processes for filling out and locking online choices are outlined below.

  • Choose a college and a course on the online form.
  • Candidates can choose to modify, amend, or remove their choices.
  • Lock the options when you've verified them.
  • After each session of counselling, candidates can secure their preferences.

Step 3: Seat Allotment

As per the students' JEE Main/JEE Advanced 2025 rankings, seats would be assigned to them. The JoSAA also performed a mock seat allocation in two rounds. Candidates who get seats must confirm their enrollment by paying the admission confirmation fee and reporting to the allocated institute by the deadlines.

Step 4: Payment of Fees

Candidates must pay the counselling fees and secure their seats after the seat allocation process. Candidates must use Net Banking or an e-Challan to pay the seat confirmation fee for the assigned seats. At the reporting centre, all necessary documents will be evaluated. A preliminary admission letter will be sent to the candidates when the documents are verified and the payment is made.

However, aspirants have the option to float, freeze, slide, and withdraw if they are unsatisfied with the seat they have been awarded.

Float: This option is available to candidates who want to maintain their assigned seat or seek an upgradation of seat

Freeze: Candidates may choose the "Freeze" option if they are happy with the seats they have been allotted and do not wish to take part in any more rounds of counselling.

Slide: Candidates can choose the "Slide" option if they wish to accept the seat they have been offered and upgrade their programme at the same college or institution.

Withdraw: Candidates who have already accepted a seat but wish to revoke their acceptance may do so by showing up at the institute they have been assigned to before the final round of JEE Main 2025 seat allocation.

Step 5: Document Verification

  • Candidates must report to the assigned reporting centre in this stage with their original documentation.
  • Candidates have a risk of getting their applications rejected if they do not show up to the centre or do not provide all the required documents.
  • All documents must be kept in multiple copies by candidates so that they may check them and confirm their seats.

Step 6: Reporting to the Allotted College

The counselling for JEE Main 2025 ends with this phase. Candidates must show up at the designated college and pay the remaining tuition fee within the allowed time frame.

JEE Main Counselling 2025: Documents Required

Candidate registration for the counselling must be done online through the JoSAA portal. The complete list of documentation needed to register for and take part in JEE Main 2025 counselling is provided below:
