JEE Main Counselling 2024: Opening & Closing Ranks, Seat Matrix
JoSAA Counselling 2024 for admission to IITs, NITs, and IIITs will be conducted on the official website of JoSAA, https://josaa.nic.in/. JEE Main Counselling dates 2024 will be announced soon.
JEE Main Counselling 2024
JEE Main Counselling 2024 is conducted after the declaration of the session 2 results. Following the counselling round, the Joint Entrance Examination, or JEE Main admission cutoff is released. The JEE Main counselling is of two types: JoSAA Counselling & CSAB Counselling. The CSAB counselling is further divided into four types, namely, CSAB Special, CSAB Supernumerary, CSAB NEUT, and CSAB SFTI.
JEE Main Counselling 2024
Candidates who have qualified the JEE 2024 Mains are called for the counselling session. The JoSAA counselling round consists of six rounds in total. If seats remain unfilled, two further rounds of CSAB special counselling will be held. After each round of JoSAA and CSAB Counselling, each of the counselling authorities releases the JEE Main Cut off 2024. The cut-off is announced individually for each category in the form of opening and closing rankings. Candidates must have a JEE score of at least 200 in order to take admission to one of the top five NITs.
JoSAA releases the schedule of JEE Mains counselling 2024 following the publication of the JEE Main 2024 result. To participate in the counselling, candidates must register online on the website and select their desired colleges and branches.
CSAB Special Round Counselling 2024
The CSAB-Special Round will take place around July 2024. Students who failed to receive the seat are eligible to participate in CSAB Special Round Counselling.
Also, candidates who have secured a seat through DASA-2024 will not be eligible to participate in the CSAB-Special Round unless they withdraw or surrender their DASA-2024 seat before the specified date.
Additionally, candidates who currently hold two seats, one from JoSAA-2024 and another from DASA-2024, must surrender one of these seats within the designated withdrawal period outlined in both the JoSAA-2024 and DASA-2024 schedules. Failure to surrender one of the two seats before the commencement of the respective Special Rounds for CSAB-2024 and DASA-2024 will result in the cancellation of both seats.
CSAB Special Round Counselling Dates 2024
CSAB Special Round Counselling dates will be announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on its official website. The date will be announced after the conclusion of JEE Main exam 2024. Meanwhile, candidates can check the CSAB counselling dates for the year 2023 to get an idea of the expected dates for the next year.

Step 2: Choice Filling & Locking
Aspirants will be asked to lock their institution and course options in the second stage. Candidates will be assigned seats depending on their availability and preferences. The processes for filling out and locking online choices are outlined below.
- Choose a college and a course on the online form.
- Candidates can choose to modify, amend, or remove their choices.
- Lock the options when you've verified them.

Step 3: Seat Allotment
As per the students' JEE Main/JEE Advanced 2024 rankings, seats would be assigned to them. The JoSAA also performed a mock seat allocation in two rounds. Candidates who get seats must confirm their enrollment by paying the admission confirmation fee and reporting to the allocated institute by the deadlines.
Step 4: Payment of Fees
Candidates must pay the counselling fees and secure their seats after the seat allocation process. Candidates must use Net Banking or an e-Challan to pay the seat confirmation fee for the assigned seats. At the reporting centre, all necessary documents will be evaluated. A preliminary admission letter will be sent to the candidates when the documents are verified and the payment is made.
However, aspirants have the option to float, freeze, slide, and withdraw if they are unsatisfied with the seat they have been awarded.
Float: This option is available to candidates who want to maintain their assigned seat or seek an upgradation of seat
Freeze: Candidates may choose the "Freeze" option if they are happy with the seats they have been allotted and do not wish to take part in any more rounds of counselling.
Slide: Candidates can choose the "Slide" option if they wish to accept the seat they have been offered and upgrade their programme at the same college or institution.
Withdraw: Candidates who have already accepted a seat but wish to revoke their acceptance may do so by showing up at the institute they have been assigned to before the final round of JEE Main 2023 seat allocation.
Step 5: Document Verification
- Candidates must report to the assigned reporting centre in this stage with their original documentation.
- Candidates have a risk of getting their applications rejected if they do not show up to the centre or do not provide all the required documents.
- All documents must be kept in multiple copies by candidates so that they may check them and confirm their seats.
