JEE Main Counselling 2024

JEE Main Counselling 2024

JEE Main counselling 2024 will start soon by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority. The JEE Main session 2 result has been announced and students can now expect the counselling dates to be released soon on the official website of JoSAA. The JEE Main counselling is of two types: JoSAA Counselling & CSAB Counselling. The CSAB counselling is further divided into four types, namely, CSAB Special, CSAB Supernumerary, CSAB NEUT, and CSAB SFTI. The JoSAA counselling registration will start tentatively in June 2024.

JEE Main Session 2 result 2024 has been announced at jeemain.nta.ac.in. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the JEE Main scorecard for candidates who appeared for the Session 2 examination.

JEE Main Counselling 2024

Candidates who have qualified the JEE 2024 Main are called for the counselling session. The JoSAA counselling round consists of six rounds in total. If seats remain unfilled, two further rounds of CSAB special counselling will be held. After each round of JoSAA and CSAB Counselling, each of the counselling authorities releases the JEE Main Cut off 2024. The cut-off is announced individually for each category in the form of opening and closing rankings. Candidates must have a JEE score of at least 200 in order to take admission to one of the top five NITs.

JoSAA will release the JEE Main Counselling 2024 dates after the release of the Session 2 result. To participate in the counselling, candidates must register online on the website and select their desired colleges and branches.

CSAB Special Round Counselling 2024

The CSAB-Special Round will take place around July 2024. Students who failed to receive the seat are eligible to participate in CSAB Special Round Counselling.

Also, candidates who have secured a seat through DASA-2024 will not be eligible to participate in the CSAB-Special Round unless they withdraw or surrender their DASA-2024 seat before the specified date.

Additionally, candidates who currently hold two seats, one from JoSAA-2024 and another from DASA-2024, must surrender one of these seats within the designated withdrawal period outlined in both the JoSAA-2024 and DASA-2024 schedules. Failure to surrender one of the two seats before the commencement of the respective Special Rounds for CSAB-2024 and DASA-2024 will result in the cancellation of both seats.

CSAB Special Round Counselling Dates 2024

CSAB Special Round Counselling dates will be announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on its official website. The date will be announced after the conclusion of JEE Main exam 2024. Meanwhile, candidates can check the CSAB counselling dates for the year 2023 to get an idea of the expected dates for the next year.

JEE Main 2024 Counselling

In the JEE Mains, there are two types of counselling: JoSAA Counseling and CSAB Counselling. Below is a detailed overview of both types of counselling:

JoSAA 2024 Counselling

In the Joint Seat Allocation Authority Counselling or JoSAA Counseling, both JEE Main and Advanced qualified students who are seeking admission to IITs and NIT+ systems are invited to apply. A total of 6 rounds are conducted in JoSAA counselling.

The counselling is conducted on behalf of 114 institutes in India, including 23 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), 31 National Institute of Technology (NITs), 26 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), IIEST Shibpur, and 33 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs).

CSAB Counselling

CSAB counselling is of 4 types and is conducted in various rounds. Candidates can check the table below to learn more about CSAB counselling in detail:

CSAB Special: The CSAB Special is held to fill the seats left empty at NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs following the six rounds of JoSAA Counselling.

CSAB NEUT: The CSAB NEUT, or Central Seat Allocation Board for North Eastern States and Union Territories, is held for admission to engineering/technology/architecture courses for applicants from the eight North Eastern states and four Union Territories.

These seats are offered under the policy of "Reservation of seats in Degree Level Technical Courses for States / UTs in the AICTE-approved institutions lacking facilities for instruction in particular sectors of Technical Education and for certain groups".

CSAB Supernumerary: The CSAB Supernumerary examination is held to fill supernumerary seats for students from the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The CSAB conducts supernumerary counselling for NITs like NIT Calicut, NIT Durgapur, and SVNIT Surat.

CSAB SFTI: CSAB SFTI Counselling is held for admission to Self Financing Technical Institutes in India.

JEE Main Seat Allotment 2024

The choices made by applicants at JoSAA counselling 2024 are taken into consideration for allocating seats for JEE Main 2024. If there are still open seats after all six rounds of JEE Main counselling, CSAB counselling will take place in two sessions.

JEE Main 2024 Spot Counselling

After all counselling rounds have been completed, if any seats remain open, JoSAA will do a round of JEE Main spot counselling. The spot counselling round for JEE Main 2024 is open to those who were not given seats in any prior round. There is no need to register separately for spot counselling. Candidates who are applying for the first time must register for on-site counselling and fill in their preferred choices.

JEE Main 2024 Counselling: Seat Acceptance Fee

The JEE Main 2024 counselling seat acceptance fee must be paid online before the online document verification for all applicants who received their seat first time in any round.

The system will instantly redirect to the EPG page if the candidate clicks "Pay Seat Acceptance Fee." To finish the payment procedure, the candidate can choose from a variety of choices, including a Debit Card, Credit Card, and Net Banking, depending on what is most convenient for him or her. The seat allocation result page will be redirected by the payment gateway after a successful transaction. The candidate may download the letter confirming the provisional seat assignment if the payment status is "Success".

Aspirants will be asked to lock their institution and course options in the second stage. Candidates will be assigned seats depending on their availability and preferences. The processes for filling out and locking online choices are outlined below.

  • Choose a college and a course on the online form.
  • Candidates can choose to modify, amend, or remove their choices.
  • Lock the options when you've verified them.
  • After each session of counselling, candidates can secure their preferences.

Step 3: Seat Allotment

As per the students' JEE Main/JEE Advanced 2024 rankings, seats would be assigned to them. The JoSAA also performed a mock seat allocation in two rounds. Candidates who get seats must confirm their enrollment by paying the admission confirmation fee and reporting to the allocated institute by the deadlines.

Step 4: Payment of Fees

Candidates must pay the counselling fees and secure their seats after the seat allocation process. Candidates must use Net Banking or an e-Challan to pay the seat confirmation fee for the assigned seats. At the reporting centre, all necessary documents will be evaluated. A preliminary admission letter will be sent to the candidates when the documents are verified and the payment is made.

However, aspirants have the option to float, freeze, slide, and withdraw if they are unsatisfied with the seat they have been awarded.

Float: This option is available to candidates who want to maintain their assigned seat or seek an upgradation of seat

Freeze: Candidates may choose the "Freeze" option if they are happy with the seats they have been allotted and do not wish to take part in any more rounds of counselling.

Slide: Candidates can choose the "Slide" option if they wish to accept the seat they have been offered and upgrade their programme at the same college or institution.

Withdraw: Candidates who have already accepted a seat but wish to revoke their acceptance may do so by showing up at the institute they have been assigned to before the final round of JEE Main 2023 seat allocation.

Step 5: Document Verification

  • Candidates must report to the assigned reporting centre in this stage with their original documentation.
  • Candidates have a risk of getting their applications rejected if they do not show up to the centre or do not provide all the required documents.
  • All documents must be kept in multiple copies by candidates so that they may check them and confirm their seats.

Step 6: Reporting to the Allotted College

The counselling for JEE Main 2024 ends with this phase. Candidates must show up at the designated college and pay the remaining tuition fee within the allowed time frame.
