BITSAT Eligibility Criteria 2024: BITS Pilani has released the eligibility criteria for the Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test, more commonly known as BITSAT exam 2024 in online mode. As per the given dates, the BITSAT session 1 exam 2024 is scheduled to be conducted from May 21 to 26, 2024. While the session 2 exams will be held between June 22 to 26, 2024. The registrations for BITSAT session 1 and 2 exams are underway, students who are interested in applying for the entrance exam can fill out their applications through the official website - bitsadmission.com.

BITSAT is an entrance exam attempted by applicants wanting to get admitted into the renowned BITS Pilani Institutes. All BITS campuses conduct the test every year for the purpose of selecting students for its integrated programs in the fields of Engineering, Science, and Pharmacy. Simply put, BITSAT is a university-level entrance exam used to admit students to B. Pharm, B.E., and M.Sc. programs. Interested applicants should know the BITSAT eligibility criteria to analyze whether they qualify to take the exam.

The detailed Eligibility Requirements are also listed on the notification to notify applicants of the conditions which are needed to be eligible for the exam. BITSAT Eligibility Criteria 2024

Only students who are taking the 12th class examination in 2024 or who passed the 12th class examination in 2024 are eligible to take the BITSAT-2024 test. Check below to know the BITSAT criteria for each offered course. Prior to registering for the BITSAT 2024 exam, applicants must first meet the following eligibility requirements.

Admission for B.Pharm: Candidates wanting to get enrolled in the B.Pharm program must have successfully completed the 12th grade under the 10+2 structure from an accredited State or Central board, or its equivalent with  Physic, Mathematics, or Chemistry and Biology as a major (Both PCM and PCB accepted) along with a  basic command of the English language.

Admission for Other Programs (Except B.Pharm): Candidates must have passed the 12th class examination of the 10+2 structure from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry (PCM) only. Additionally, adequate English proficiency is also needed in order to be admitted to all of the Integrated First-Degree Programs, with the exception of B. Pharm.

Admissions through the BITSAT test are purely merit. To decide the merit positions of students the scores received in the BITSAT exam 2024 will be examined. However, the eligibility to appear for the test depends on the grade 12th exam result. Additionally, the institute only considers the latest performance of grade 12th. This implies that the exam result should be recent as part scores cannot be submitted. Moreover, if students took more than one attempt in grade 12th, only their most recent performance will be taken into account.

BITSAT Eligibility Criteria 2024: Direct Admission

Students who are highly meritorious are often given direct admissions. Also termed as board toppers who have ranked first in all state and central boards, BITS will acknowledge their efforts by giving them direct admission based on their 12th-grade performance. The first-ranked students in the PCM stream will be given consideration for admission to any first-degree program of their choosing, whereas the first-ranked students in the PCB stream will only be given consideration for admission to the B. Pharm. Program.

To be eligible for direct admission, students must:

  • Topper/ first rank of the science stream from an accredited school as per announced by the same board
  • Should have achieved the highest aggregate percentage of score in class 12th among all other students
  • Marks should be aggregated despite the subjects being identified as optional, electives, etc in the mark sheet
  • Should attach valid proof of documents to support their claims. This will include their grade 10th and 12th mark sheets along with a board letter declaring the same
  • In all these cases, the final decision will be made by the Vice-chancellor

BITSAT Eligibility Criteria 2024: International Admissions

International students who are planning to appear for the BITSAT exam will have different requirements. Read below to know the conditions that would be required of International aspirants-

  • Citizens holding passports from foreign countries will be considered International candidates 
  • They should have completed a high-school-level education with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths with English as a minor
  • The exam result should be recognized by the country's board of education. For instance, students claiming A-Levels result should be acknowledged by Cambridge International
  • Applicants must have obtained 75% aggregate marks at the minimum - or 7.5 at the minimum on a 10 scale
  • In each specific subject, candidates must have scored at least 60% of the marks
  • Candidates must proclaim the minimum 1160 score in the new format of SAT which would include a math, reasoning, and language test
  • The SAT score should be recent as older scores will not be accepted, not earlier than February 1, 2021

What is the minimum age to give the BITSAT exam?

There is no specified minimum or maximum age limit to be eligible for BITSAT. Although, students need to proclaim the class 12th marks in order to attempt the test so applicants who have not completed that level of education will stand non-eligible. Moreover, only recent scores of grade 12th are considered hence candidates older in age who cannot present a recent high-school result will also not be eligible.

Can International students attempt BITSAT?

Yes, students from all around the world can register for BITSAT given that they meet the eligibility criteria specially designed for students abroad. Apart from completing high school level education, International students will also need to submit an SAT score.

Can students with PCM apply for a B.Pharm course?

Yes, students who are planning to register for the B.Pharm course should know that both PCM and PCB are accepted for it. However, for other integrated courses, only PCM will be accepted.
