The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) releases the result of the WBJEE exam 2023 on its official website. The result is released after the successful conclusion of the exam. The WBJEE result is released in the form of a scorecard that includes the candidate's exam results, rank, and other significant information. Many institutions and universities in West Bengal utilise the WBJEE score to select applicants for admission to their specific programmes.
The board releases two merit lists - General Merit Rank (GMR) & Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR). The merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained by candidates in WBJEE paper 1 & paper 2. Candidates who pass the exam are called for the WBJEE counselling round. WBJEE 2023 cutoff will be made public by the authorities following each round of counselling. The minimum score needed to clear an examination is known as the qualifying cutoff. Candidates need to get 140+ marks to be admitted to their top institutions based on last year's cutoff.

Ranking Methodology & Merit List
Based on a candidate's performance on the Common Entrance Examination, WBJEEB will create merit ranks. The Rank Card, which will include a score and rank, will be checked and downloaded by candidates. To protect the privacy of each individual applicant, the WBJEEB does not publicly release any rank or score lists.
The following methodology will be used to establish two distinct Merit Ranks based on the papers (subjects) taken and the grades earned:
General Merit Rank (GMR)
- Based on the combined total score from Papers I and II, a General Merit Rank (GMR) will be generated.
- The total marks achieved in all subjects will be ranked in descending order. If there are ties, the tie-breaking criteria will be used.
- For each group of students, such as SC Rank, ST Rank, OBC-A Rank, OBC-B Rank, PWD Rank, TFW Rank, etc., a separate reserved category merit rank will also be displayed.
- The GMR shall be the only criterion for admission to all engineering, technology, pharmacy, and architecture programmes at Jadavpur University of West Bengal
- The counselling, seat allocation, and admission shall be determined solely by the GMR (not on category ranks).
Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR)
- The results of paper-II, which includes only Physics and Chemistry, will be used to determine the Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR) ranking.
- Ranking will be done in descending order of paper-II mark totals. If there are ties, the tie-breaking criteria will be used.
- For each group of students, such as SC Rank, ST Rank, OBC-A Rank, OBC-B Rank, PWD Rank, TFW Rank, etc., a separate reserved category merit position will also be indicated.
- Except for Jadavpur University, admission to all pharmacy programmes would be dependent on PMR.
- Sequencing for seat allocation will solely be based on PMR (not on category ranks). Category rankings are only provided for the candidates in the relevant category's information.
Category Ranks
During counselling, category ranks are calculated based on the category information provided by candidates during online application. Thus, the candidate's credentials must be current as of the date of verification. Any candidate's category rank will be cancelled and they will be considered in the general category if their claim is later determined to be false during verification.
WBJEE Tie-Breaking Rule
The Tie-Breaking rule is used if one or more candidates has scored the same marks. Interested students can check the tie-breaking rule for GMR & PMR below:
