WBJEE seat allotment refers to the process of assigning seats to candidates based on their performance and preferences in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE). After the WBJEE results are declared and the ranks of the candidates are determined, the seat allotment process begins. It is conducted in multiple rounds, and the allotment is done based on the candidate's rank, category, and choices filled during the counselling process. The WBJEE Seat Allotment details are given below:

  • After the seat allotment result is released, candidates can log in to see their allocation. The Institute and course for which he or she has been assigned a seat are displayed in the allocation status.
  • The applicant must complete an online transaction (Net Banking, Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI) to pay a seat acceptance fee of Rs. 5000/- (Rupees five thousand only) and download the seat allotment letter. The allotment will be annulled and the applicant will not be given consideration for a seat in the Upgradation Round (i.e., EXIT) if the seat acceptance fee is not paid.
  • The candidate must report to the allotted Institute with the allotment letter and any other documents for physical verification. The candidate's present seat allocation will be automatically terminated and he or she will not be given consideration for a seat in the upgrade round (i.e., EXIT) if they do not show up for the required document verification.

  • If, at any time, a relevant body determines that the applicant is ineligible for the allotment, his or her allocation or admission will be deemed void.

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) issues two types of merit lists: the General Merit Rank (GMR) and the Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR). These lists serve different purposes and are based on specific factors as described below:

Course: The WBJEE General Merit List is designed for candidates seeking admission to Engineering, Technology, and Architecture courses in West Bengal's Engineering & Technology colleges and universities. On the other hand, the WBJEE Pharmacy Merit List is meant for candidates interested in pursuing pharmacy courses. However, it's important to note that admission to the Pharmacy course at Jadavpur University is solely determined by the General Merit List and not the Pharmacy Merit List.

Preparation Criteria: The General Merit List is compiled based on candidates' scores in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. In contrast, the Pharmacy Merit List is prepared using scores obtained by candidates in the Physics and Chemistry sections of the exam.

Ranking Criteria: In the WBJEE General Merit List, candidates are ranked according to their total marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The candidate with the highest total score is given the top rank (#1), and the ranking follows in descending order based on the total marks achieved. Similarly, in the WBJEE Pharmacy Merit List, candidates are ranked based on their total scores in the Physics and Chemistry sections.

To summarize, WBJEEB releases two distinct merit lists: the General Merit Rank for candidates applying to Engineering/Technology/Architecture courses, and the Pharmacy Merit Rank for those seeking admission to pharmacy courses. The ranking in each list is determined by the total marks scored in the respective subjects of the examination.

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) will conduct the WBJEE exam in online mode. Candidates have to appear for the counselling phase as per their preference for the course. After each round of WBJEE counselling, the opening and closing ranks will be released. The opening and closing ranks will be released category-wise and course-wise for each participating college. Candidates who did not receive a seat in the first round of counselling or who chose not to participate in the first round are given one during the mop-up round. Those who passed the WBJEE examination but have not registered for WBJEE counselling are also eligible.

Candidates must select their desired college and course during this phase after being offered open seats based on their WBJEE scores. Candidates who receive seats in this stage must report to their designated college for admission within the allocated time frame and submit the required documents.

Candidates are urged to appear in this round to improve their chances of admission because the mop-up counselling round is the final chance for candidates to get admission in WBJEE participating colleges.
