TNEA 2024 Exam: The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) will start the TNEA application process likely in the first week of May 2025 on its official website. The conducting body has released the TNEA application form which can be filled out by eligible candidates. The last day to register will be June 2025. Registered candidates have to upload their documents as well for successful registration following which the Random Number will be assigned. The first TNEA rank list 2025 will be published likely in July 2025. Once released, students will be able to check the seat allotment list
The TNEA notification is released on the official website. Candidates can fill out the TNEA application form. However, to successfully complete the registration process, candidates first must fulfil the TNEA eligibility criteria. In order to be eligible for the TNEA exam, students need to pass Class 12 and earn a minimum percentage of marks in the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) exam is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Tamil Nadu. In essence, the TNEA 2025 is a counselling process for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes at various institutions and universities in the state of Tamil Nadu.
Students will be called for the TNEA counselling round if they have their names on the merit list. Candidates who meet the cutoff range will be listed on the TNEA merit list. The counselling is conducted in an online mode for three categories: General, Vocational & Academic. The final admission is done on the basis of Class 12 marks and no entrance exam is being conducted for the same.

TNEA 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates wishing to appear for the TNEA counselling must fulfil the eligibility criteria. The TNEA eligibility criteria is laid down by Anna University, Chennai. The eligibility criteria to take the TNEA 2025 exam is divided into Nativity & Academic Qualification. Candidates can check the detailed eligibility requirements below:
Nativity
- Aspirants from Tamil Nadu who completed their higher secondary education (Class 12) are eligible to apply for the examination.
- Candidates who completed their higher secondary education (Class 12) outside of Tamil Nadu are still able to appear for the examination, but they must provide proof of nativity.
- Sons and daughters of Central Government officials employed in Tamil Nadu for the previous five years are eligible to apply for the exam. Such students must present a certificate from their parent's or guardian's employers.
- The TNEA examination is open to the children of all Tamil Nadu cadre employees.
- Children of Tamil Nadu Employees who have been continuously employed for the past five years in the public sector or at institutes recognised by the government are also eligible to apply. They are not required to provide a residence certification for it.
Education Qualification
- Candidates from the General Category are required to have completed Class 12 with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects. Students must have received an overall percentage of at least 45%.
- Students from backward classes, including backward Muslim applicants, must have completed Class 12 with PCM as a required subject and a minimum of 40% overall.
- Students from the SC, ST, and SCA categories must have a minimum cumulative percentage of 40% in Class 12. Additionally, they must have completed class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as required courses.
- Students from the Most Backward Class (MBC) and the Denotified Class (DNC) may apply for the TNEA 2024 exam if they have passed Class 12 with at least a 40% overall passing grade.
Note: If a candidate is applying for Marine Engineering, then the following are the eligibility criteria they must fulfil:
- Minimum 60% marks in Class 12 (Aggregate)
- The upper age limit must be 25 years.
- Candidates must also meet the following physical requirements:

Minimum Height: 157cm
Colour Vision: Normal/Standard

TNEA Registration 2025
Candidates fulfilling the above-stated eligibility requirements can fill out the TNEA application form. The steps to fill out the application form are as follows:
Registration
- Registering on the official website is the first step to fill out an application form.
- Candidates must do so by going to the official website - tneaonline.org.
- On the home page, click the Registration link.
- Enter your name, email address, mobile number, and passing year of 10+2 and other details.
- Create your own password. Strong passwords are required.
- Candidates will receive the OTP on their registered cellphone number after submitting the information.
- In the appropriate field, enter the OTP, then click "Register."
Fill out the Application Form
- Candidates must login to complete the application form after registering.
- On your screen, the application form will display.
- Complete the application form with your personal and academic information.
- A scanned copy of each document requested on the registration form should be uploaded.
- Once all the information is complete, submit the application.
- Candidates will be given a random number, which they must record for their records.
Payment of an Application Fee
- Candidates must pay an application fee after submitting their application. It must be remembered that the application fee must be paid according to the candidate's category.
- The General Category application fee is Rs 500.
- The SC/ST group has a Rs 250 application fee.

TNEA Counselling 2025
Candidates who qualify can participate in the TNEA counselling online. Based on the choices they have made, their rank, and their reservation category, candidates are invited to the counselling. The TNEA participating colleges announce the seat allocation results following the counselling procedure. Candidates are allocated seats, and they are required to report to those colleges on the designated day.
The steps to participate in the counselling process are as follows:
- The first step is to register for the counselling process
- Once registered, candidates will be allotted a 10-digit random number.
- This is followed by the document verification process at the TNEA Facilitation Center (TFC).
- After the document verification, the rank will be published.
- Based on their rank, candidates will participate in the counselling round which includes payment of counselling fees, choice filling, and choice locking.
- Once the choice-filling and choice-locking process is done, the final seat allotment result is announced.
- Candidates are then required to report to the allotted college.
TNEA Cutoff 2025
The TNEA cutoff is released publicly by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Tamil Nadu. The cutoff is made public for all applicants on a community-wide basis in the form of opening and closing marks. The cutoff is the minimum score required for candidates to be admitted to the B.E./B.Tech programme. The cutoff score is used to determine who will be allotted a seat.
The cutoff is dependent on a variety of parameters, including the number of open seats, the number of applicants, and candidates' 10+2 performance, among others.
