TNEA Counselling 2026: The Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu,has released the TNEA First Seat Allotment Result at its official website. Candidates who have been shortlisted in the first list must confirm their seat allotment by July 25, 2026. If a candidates fails to confirm their seat by the given deadline, their tentative allotment will be cancelled.

Earlier, the conducting body had released the TNEA rank list 2026 for the first round on the official website. Eligible candidates who registered for the TNEA 2026 counselling could download the rank list PDF by signing in at tneaonline.org using their login credentials. Candidates could apply for grievances from July 1, 2026, to July 6, 2026. The TNEA Counselling 2026 process for reserved categories and general categories has commenced from July 13, 2026, and July 20, 2026 respectively. The conducted body also opens the confirmation window for seat acceptance. The TNEA Counselling 2026 includes online choice filling by the candidates, allotment of seats, seat allotment confirmation, downloading the provisional allotment letter and reporting to the allotted institute.

The TNEA Rank List 2026 had been issued online on July 1, 2026, at the official website. Candidates could check their status after logging in. The grievance submission window remained active till July 6, 2026.

TNEA Counselling 2026 for Special Reservation Categories (7.5%) is conducted separately. After the conclusion of TNEA Counselling 2026 (General), supplementary counselling will also be conducted. The supplementary counselling will be conducted tentatively in September 2026. It will be conducted in online mode. If seats remain vacant even after supplementary counselling, TNEA will conduct SCA to SC Counselling.

To participate in the TNEA 2026 counselling, candidates were required to visit the official website - tneaonline.org and log in with their registered email ID and password. This year, a total of 2,45,235 students had applied for the counselling process. 

TNEA Counselling 2026

The TNEA First Seat Allotment Result has been released and candidates are required to confirm their tentative allotment by July 25, 2026. Candidted must adhere to the deadline. Candidates can check their TNEA seat allotment on the official website. Candidates have to confirm their tentative seat allotment by visiting the TNEA Facilitation Centre (TFC). After confirming the allotment, they have to wait until the final notice is released by the respective college. There will be three rounds of TNEA general counselling 2026. Once the general counselling rounds are completed, the TNEA supplementary round counselling will be conducted. Also, the TNEA counselling is conducted separately for Special Reservation and Vocational categories. 

The TNEA cutoff 2026 will be released separately by participating institutes in the form of opening and closing ranks. Candidates must fall in that bracket in order to become eligible for final admission to their preferred course.

TNEA Rank List 2026

The marks that applicants received in their Class 12 are used to create the TNEA rank list or merit list. For admission to the B.E./B.Tech. programme, the candidate's Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics test scores must be strong. Additionally, it should be emphasised that the overall ranking is created by normalising applicants' scores from the 12th grade. The normalisation process is used to compare individuals who successfully completed their class 12 exams from various boards.

Factors Determining TNEA Rank List/Merit List

The final TNEA Rank list is determined based on several factors such as:

• % of marks in Physics
• % of marks in Chemistry
• % of marks in Mathematics
• % of marks in the 4th optional subject
• Date of Birth (elder candidates are given preference in case of tie)

TNEA Counselling Process 2026

The TNEA Counselling 2026 process involves 7 steps. These steps are: Registration, Payment of Counselling Fee, Choice Filling, Submission of Form, Allotment of Random Number, Document Verification, and Seat Allotment. Registration

The first step is to register for the TNEA counselling process on the official website. Students will be asked for basic details like name, date of birth, gender, mobile number, and email address to successfully register for counselling.

Payment of Counselling Fee

To successfully register for the counselling, candidates are also required to pay the counselling fee. The category-wise counselling fee is listed below:

General: Rs 5000

SC/ST/SCA/ Tamil Nadu candidates: Rs 1000

Choice Filling

After payment of the counselling fee, candidates are required to fill in their choice preferences. The choice-filling process will be done in online mode. Candidates can fill in as many choices as per their preferences. It is important to note that once choices are filled in, candidates are required to lock their choices as well. 

While filling out their preferences, students must also fill in personal and academic details such as nativity, nationality, marks in the qualifying examination, and board name. 

Submission of Form

Once the application form is duly filled in, candidates must submit their TNEA application form.

Allotment of Random Number

Once the form is submitted, candidates will be allotted a 10-digit random number. The random number will help break the tie between two or more candidates.

Document Verification

For document verification, candidates must visit the TNEA Facilitation Centre (TFC) with their original documents as well as photocopies of the documents. Students can select any closest TFC of their choice between the given options. 

TNEA Seat Allotment

The list of TNEA 2026 seat allotment will be made available by the authorities online. The merit list, the choices filled, and the candidate's category will be the only criteria used to create the list of selected candidates. To access the results of the seat allocation, candidates must log in on the official website of TNEA.  Candidates have the option of accepting the seat or giving it up to take part in the subsequent round of seat allocation. Candidates must report to their designated institute or college after receiving confirmation of their seat.
