TNEA Counselling 2025 - DTE Tamil Nadu releases the round-wise seat allotment list on its official website. Candidates have to confirm the allotment by as per the schedule released by TNEA

TNEA Counselling 2025 - The Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu release the TNEA rank list for all rounds on the official website - tneaonline.org. Eligible candidates who registered for the TNEA counselling can download the rank list PDF given on this page. The conducted body also opens the confirmation window for seat acceptance.

Last year, students who had aggregate marks between 177 and 200 were eligible for the Round 1 counselling for the TNEA exam 2025. Also, students must have had a rank between 1 and 22761.

TNEA Counselling 2025 for Special Reservation Categories (7.5%) is conducted separately. The conducting body will start TNEA General Counselling in August 2025 (tentative). The General Counselling will continue tentatively till September 2025. There are three rounds in TNEA Counselling 2025.

After the conclusion of TNEA Counselling 2025 (General), supplementary counselling will also be conducted. The supplementary counselling will be conducted tentatively in September 2025. It will be conducted in online mode. If seats remain vacant even after supplementary counselling, TNEA will conduct SCA to SC Counselling.

TNEA Counselling 2025

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Tamil Nadu is responsible for conducting the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) Counselling 2025. The TNEA counselling is conducted in online mode which includes five major steps: Registration, Payment of the Counselling Fee, Choice Filling, Seat Allotment, and Confirmation of Seats. 

The TNEA rank list is released after the successful completion of the counselling round. Candidates will be able to check their TNEA seat allotment on the official website. Candidates have to confirm their tentative seat allotment by visiting the TNEA Facilitation Center (TFC). After confirming the allotment, they have to wait until the final notice is released by the respective college. 

There will be three rounds of TNEA general counselling. Once the general counselling rounds are completed, TNEA supplementary round counselling will be conducted. Also, the TNEA counselling is conducted separately for Special Reservation and Vocation categories. 

The TNEA cutoff 2025 will be released separately by participating institutes in the form of opening and closing ranks. Candidates must fall in that bracket in order to become eligible for final admission to their preferred course.

The marks that applicants received in their Class 12 are used to create the TNEA rank list or merit list. For admission to the B.E./B.Tech. programme, the candidate's Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics test scores must be strong. Additionally, it should be emphasised that the overall ranking is created by normalising applicants' scores from the 12th grade. The normalisation process is used to compare individuals who successfully completed their class 12 exams from various boards.

Factors Determining TNEA Rank List/Merit List

The final TNEA Rank list is determined based on several factors such as:

  • % of marks in Physics
  • % of marks in Chemistry
  • % of marks in Mathematics
  • % of marks in the 4th optional subject
  • Date of Birth (elder candidates are given preference in case of tie)

The TNEA Counselling 2025 process involves 7 steps. These steps are: Registration, Payment of Counselling Fee, Choice Filling, Submission of Form, Allotment of Random Number, Document Verification, and Seat Allotment. Registration

The first step is to register for the TNEA counselling process on the official website. Students will be asked for basic details like name, date of birth, gender, mobile number, and email address to successfully register for counselling.

Payment of Counselling Fee

To successfully register for the counselling, candidates are also required to pay the counselling fee. The category-wise counselling fee is listed below:

General: Rs 5000

SC/ST/SCA/ Tamil Nadu candidates: Rs 1000

Choice Filling

After payment of the counselling fee, candidates are required to fill in their choice preferences. The choice-filling process will be done in online mode. Candidates can fill in as many choices as per their preferences. It is important to note that once choices are filled in, candidates are required to lock their choices as well. 

While filling out their preferences, students must also fill in personal and academic details such as nativity, nationality, marks in the qualifying examination, and board name. 

Submission of Form

Once the application form is duly filled in, candidates must submit their TNEA application form.

Allotment of Random Number

Once the form is submitted, candidates will be allotted a 10-digit random number. The random number will help break the tie between two or more candidates.

Document Verification

For document verification, candidates must visit the TNEA Facilitation Center (TFC) with their original as well photocopies of the documents. Students can select any closest TFC of their choice between the given options. 

TNEA Seat Allotment

The list of TNEA 2025 seat allotment will be made available by the authorities online. The merit list, the choices filled, and the candidate's category will be the only criteria used to create the list of selected candidates. To access the results of the seat allocation, candidates must log in on the official website of TNEA.  Candidates have the option of accepting the seat or giving it up to take part in the subsequent round of seat allocation. Candidates must report to their designated institute or college after receiving confirmation of their seat.

Can students from other states apply for TNEA Counseling 2025?

Candidates from other states who completed grades VIII-XII in Tamil Nadu are allowed to apply for TNEA Counselling 2025. Such applicants are exempt from presenting a birth certificate. However, students who have passed their Class 12 from other states are required to produce their nativity certificate.
