NIT Warangal: Admission, Courses, Fees, Eligibility, Placement

Founded in 1959 as the first regional engineering college in India, NIT Warangal is the first public technical and research university in the state of Telangana, India. Since 2002, the institute has been known by its current name. The college is now recognized as the Institution of National Importance by the Government of India. It is ranked #21 in the engineering category and #53 in the overall category by NIRF Ranking 2023. The institute has also been sanctioned the ‘Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-III)’ project by the MHRD, India due to its exemplary performance over the years. 

The 4 year BTech curriculum costs INR 5.19 Lacs in total. The institute has a seat intake of more than 900 students every year for its B.Tech course. In addition to the B.Tech program, the college accepts scores from GATE, IIT JAM, NIMCET, and CAT/MAT for courses like M.Tech, M.Sc, MCA, & MBA. The college offers financial assistance through three types of scholarships. These include its own merit-cum-means scholarship, MHRD scholarship offered by MHRD, and TS E-pass scholarship for students of Telangana.

NIT Warangal Location

Located in Kazipet area of Warangal, Telangana, India, the institute is merely a 2.5 hours drive on Hyderabad-Warangal National Highway 202. The nearest airport to Warangal is the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, once there, you can take a train or a cab to reach your destination which would take about 2 hours from rail, and double the time from road. Kazipet and Warangal are the two nearest railway stations from the campus, one being nearly 3 km away and one 12 km away.

NIT Warangal Courses

NITW offers a number of courses at UG & PG level. Currently, the institute offers 8 UG courses and 29 PG courses in different specializations. Among its many courses, the BTech program is the institute's flagship program. The program has eight specializations available. Candidates for the B.Tech program must have a JEE Main 2022 rank between 450-17,000 to be considered for admission.

• Interested and eligible candidates need to appear for and obtain a valid score in JEE Main
• Candidates must register for JoSSA counseling based on their JEE Main scores
• Based on the seats assigned after counseling, candidates are selected

NIT Warangal M.Tech Admission Process

• Interested and eligible candidates need to appear for and obtain a valid score in GATE examination
• Based on the GATE score, candidates must register for CCMT counseling
• Selected candidates will have to verify their documents and pay the required fee

NIT Warangal MCA Admission Process

• Eligible and interested candidates must appear for NIMCET
• Next, candidates must register themselves for NIMCET counseling
• Based on the score and the counseling process, seats will be allocated
• Selected candidates will have to verify their documents and pay the required fee

NIT Warangal M.Sc Admission Process

• Eligible and interested candidates must appear for JAM examination
• On the basis of the JAM scores, candidates must register themselves for the CCMN counseling
• Seats will be allocated in the counseling process

• Eligible and interested candidates must sit for and obtain a valid score in CAT/MAT
• Shortlisted students will be called for a group discussion and an interview round

NIT Warangal Placement

In the year 2023, the National Institute of Technology, Warangal, orchestrated a highly successful placement drive for its graduating batch. The Centre for Career Planning & Development (CCPD), an active placement cell at NIT Warangal, organizes placement drives each year. NIT Warangal Facilities 

The campus is home to more than 5000 Indian and 500 foreign students. The 250-acre NIT Warangal campus is entirely residential and spread out over it. There are 100 laboratories on the campus in addition to 13 academic departments and a few advanced research centers. 

Hostel- The students are housed in 5 hostels for women and 17 for boys. The hostels provide all the basic necessities like clean water and hygienic food. There are dedicated public messes in the hostel blocks that feed all the students by giving them meals 3 times a day. 

Library-  The institute also features a library with more than 1.8 lakh volumes and 4645 e-journals. The services in the library are completely computerized. It is located  in a separate building with a plinth area of 4000 Sq. Mts and has around 1,87,014 books, back volumes, technical pamphlets, standards, CD-ROMs, Video Cassettes, e-books etc.  The total cost of the books is Rs. 10 Crores and Central Library subscribed 3236 e-journals. 

Sports-  The institute provides basic sports facilities for all the students along with a well-equipped gym that is always maintained for the use of the students. 

Shopping Complex-  The institute has its own shopping complex that caters to the needs of all its residents. Inside the complex, one can find a saloon, laundry shop, xerox and a stationary shop. All of these services are provided to the students at a reasonable price.

Banking Services- The institution has a 24/7 run atm and other such banking services. It has a bank (State Bank of India) inside the campus itself.

Cafeteria- The institution has two canteens that serve delicious yet nutritious food to all the students and the faculty members.
