The KCET Rank List is a merit-based ranking of candidates who appear for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET). It determines eligibility and priority for admission to various undergraduate courses, such as engineering, agriculture, and veterinary sciences, offered by colleges in Karnataka. The KCET Rank List is prepared on the following basis:

Weightage Calculation:

The KCET Rank is calculated by combining the candidate’s scores in:

  • KCET (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology): 50% weightage
  • Qualifying Examination (Class 12/PUC marks in PCM/PCB): 50% weightage

Normalisation of Marks:
To ensure fairness, scores are normalised if there are variations in the difficulty levels of the question papers.

Preparation of Rank List:

  • The ranks are allotted based on the combined score of KCET and Class 12/PUC marks.
  • Separate rank lists are prepared for different courses (e.g., engineering, agriculture).

Tie Breaking Rules -

In cases where two or more candidates achieve the same score, the following tie-breaking criteria are applied in order:

  • Higher marks in Mathematics (for engineering) or Biology (for agriculture/veterinary).
  • Higher marks in Physics.
  • Age (elder candidates are given priority).

Release of the Rank List:
The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) releases the rank list on its official website after verification and normalization of scores.

If the merit of two or more candidates is the same, the following tie-breaking policy will be applicable for determining the final ranks of the candidates:

Note: If the tie still exists, then the final merit will be determined by draw of lots.

Along with the KCET results, the final KCET answer key 2026 and the list of the candidates whose results have been withheld will also be published.

After the declaration of KCET results 2026, some candidates might not be assigned ranks due to the following reasons:

  • Candidate might not have submitted the marks obtained in the qualifying exam
  • Candidate might have marked the version code incorrectly
  • There might be some change in the qualifying exam marks due to revaluation

Note: Candidates need not worry if no rank is assigned to them. They just need to submit the required documents to KEA within the stipulated time. After this, KEA will assign the ranks to such candidates.

Candidates can challenge KCET 2026 results if any of the following details have been incorrectly mentioned in the result:

  • Marks obtained in the qualifying examination
  • Version Code
  • NEET/NATA scores (if applicable)

Note: Candidates cannot request for re-totalling or revaluation of the marks scored by them in the KCET 2026 exam. They can submit their objections within three days from the date of declaration of KCET results. Thereafter, the results of such candidates will be published by KEA.

On the basis of the KCET rank list/merit list prepared by KEA, eligible candidates will be considered for seat allotment. Seats will be allotted to the candidates on the basis of the college-course options filled by them and the seat matrix issued by the state government.

KCET cut off will be release after the completion of each round of the counselling process. Candidates can check the college-wise and course-wise cut off by visiting the official website of KEA.
