IIT Gandhinagar provides a two-year master's degree in disciplines like:

A valid GATE score is essential for M.Tech admission, but it is not mandatory for the PGDIIT program. B.Tech. alumni from IITs who achieved a CGPA/CPI of 8.0 or higher are exempt from the GATE requirement for the M.Tech course.

IIT Gandhinagar M.Tech Admission 2025: Admission Criteria

To be considered for the regular MTech programme at IIT, applicants typically need a COAP registration number, unless they've completed their BTech from an IIT. Upon receiving an admission offer, candidates must confirm their acceptance through the COAP portal.

Students who have achieved a CPI of 8.0 or higher in their BTech from an IIT can apply even without a GATE score or COAP registration. However, if they choose to provide their COAP registration number, their application will be evaluated following COAP guidelines.

Selection for the MTech programme usually involves an interview and/or a written examination. The institute will select a select group of candidates for either a written test or interview, depending on their academic performance and/or GATE score.

If a written test is conducted, it typically covers subjects like general aptitude, engineering mathematics, and foundational courses from various disciplines up to the third year of the undergraduate curriculum.

Candidates who do not clear the written test won't proceed to the interview stage. Reserved category applicants will receive adjustments to the cutoff criteria as per regulations. Both the interview and potential written test can be administered either online or in person.
