Established by an act of parliament in 1994, Tezpur University is a central university located in the northeastern state of Assam, India. The institution has academic affiliations with UGC, AIU, and ACU and accreditation by NAAC with Grade A+. The university is ranked #69 in the university category by NIRF 2023. The institute has been ranked in the #281-290 range in the QS World University Ranking 2022, and in the #1001-1200 range in the Times Higher Education Ranking.

The University offers a wide range of UG, PG, PhD, diploma, and certificate courses in several subjects and their specializations. A university-conducted entrance test serves as the basis for admission to all courses. The university also accepts CAT/MAT scores for MBA admission, GATE for M.Tech admission, and JEE Main for B.Tech admission. 

For its flagship B.Tech program, the total seat intake at Tezpur University is 366 including 221 seats reserved for North-east students. For other popular courses such as MBA & MCA, the seat intake at Tezpur University is nearly 60 each. Being a central university, the institute offers its courses at subsidized fees. Tezpur University B.Tech fees is around INR 2.2 lakh; however, it may vary on the basis of specializations. The institution provides a variety of scholarship programs to its deserving or financially challenged students. Students with disabilities, SC/ST students, and students whose yearly income is less than INR 1 lakh are all eligible for scholarships/financial aid from Tezpur University.

Tezpur University Location

The institute is situated at the central part of Assam, which is an area called Tezpur. The nearest airport is the Tezpur airport. From the airport, one can reach the institute via National Highway 31 or National Highway 37.The nearest railway station, which is merely 10 km away, is called Dekargaon Railway Station. The town is well connected to the city of Guwahati, which is 4.5 hours away from the campus.

Students from all over the country apply for different courses at Tezpur University, and every course has different admission criteria and process. For some courses, candidates will have to appear for the university’s entrance test which is called the Tezpur University Entrance Examination (TUEE). Tezpur University Placements

The placement cell of Tezpur University is in charge of delivering students the best placement opportunities and pre-placement training. A total of 182 candidates were placed during the Tezpur University Placement 2021, according to the NIRF 2022 report. The median pay for a 2-year PG program is INR 4.85 LPA, compared to INR 4.25 LPA for 4-year UG programs.

The campus is known for conducting a smooth placement drive, where it trains the students for the placement season. Tezpur University Facilities

The university's 262-acre campus is home to 4 schools and 27 departments, which along with 312 faculty members educate almost 5000 students. On the university campus, there are many facilities for supporting students and faculty, some of them include:

Library- The central library is vast and caters to all the students and faculty members. It has nearly 1,12,813 books, 9723 e-journals, 1225 e-books, and 14 databases. The library also has an online department wherein students can access the material through electronic devices. 

Hostel- The university provides residential services to both boys and girls, it has five hostels for boys and seven for girls, a cafeteria, which apart from giving students a place to rest and sleep, also provides them with basic necessities like water and food. The girls hostel carries the legacy of being the first ever girls hostel in Tezpur.

Sports- The campus has many grounds that are used by students to play various sports like football, cricket, volleyball. It also has a well equipped gym and a basketball court, along with a badminton and tennis court. The university actively conducts a sports event annually. 

Cafeteria- The university has a wide range of food joints and cafeterias offering all sorts of meals and giving students and faculty members options to choose from. 

Hospital- The health center in the middle of the campus is always prepared to take on emergency cases, and ensures the overall health and well being of the students. It had experienced staff members who have previously worked in hospitals.
