SSC CHSL Exam 2026: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will release the SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) notification soon on the official website - ssc.gov.in. Along with the notification, SSC will also release the SSC CHSL application form 2026 for all the eligible candidates. SSC will release the SSC CHSL syllabus and exam pattern along with the official notice.
Most likely, the SSC CHSL exam pattern 2026 and syllabus will remain the same as the previous year. Any changes made to the syllabus and pattern for the SSC CHSL exam 2026 will be updated here. The SSC CHSL exam dates will also be announced along with the notification.

SSC CHSL Eligibility 2026

Candidates applying for the CHSL are required to fulfil the SSC CHSL eligibility criteria prescribed in the SSC CHSL Notification. The eligibility criteria for the examination will be based on nationality, age, and educational qualification. 

  • Nationality: Candidates applying for the SSC CHSL must be citizens of India. Along with this, the candidates who are subjects of Nepal, Bhutan, or Tibetan refugees who came over to India before the 1st January 1962, are also eligible to apply for the exam. 
  • Age Limit: The maximum and minimum age limit to fill the SSC CHSL application form is 18 to 32 years, as prescribed in the SSC CHSL. However, age relaxation has been provided to the reserved category candidates. 
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or a 10+2 qualification from a recognised board.

Candidates shortlisted through the SSC CHSL examination will be entitled to salary packages under the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission. The basic salary of SSC CHSL recruits will be in the range of INR 19,900-25,000. The SSC CHSL salary structure is listed below in the table:

SSC CHSL 2026 Tier 1 Exam  Pattern 

The SSC CHSL exam pattern consists of a tier 1 exam, which will be conducted in computer-based mode and will have 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs) from four sections– English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Intelligence, and General Awareness. 

SSC CHSL 2026 Tier 2 Exam  Pattern 

The SSC CHSL  Tier 2 exam will be in objective-type, multiple-choice questions, except for Module II of Section III. Since SSC CHSL tier II has two sessions, the first session has sections 1, module 1 and module 2 have 60 questions, whereas sections 2, module 1 and 2 have also 60 questions. Section 3 module 1 has 15 questions. 

SSC CHSL Skill Test/ Typing Test 

The Skill Test will be conducted for candidates opting for the Data Entry Operator post, while the Typing test will be conducted for the post of  PA/SA & LC. The Skill Test/ Typing Test is only qualifying and is not considered while preparing the final merit list.

SSC CHSL 2026 Exam: Tier-I Syllabus 

As per the SSC CHSL official notification, the tier 1 syllabus is based on four subjects– English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Intelligence, and General Awareness. Generally, the questions asked in the SSC CHSL are of an easy to moderate difficulty level.

SSC CHSL 2026 Tier 2 Syllabus

The candidate will have to write a 200-250-word essay along with a 200-250-word letter/application 

The commission will publish the city intimation slip for all the registered candidates on the official website. The exam city slip informs candidates about the allotted SSC CHSL exam date, shift timings and city. Aspirants can download their SSC CHSL City Intimation 2026 through the steps provided below.

  • Step 1: Go to the official portal of SSC
  • Step 2: Click on Login and enter your Login credentials.
  • Step 3: After submitting, go to the tab 'City Intimation-Live'
  • Step 4: Check your exam city, exam date and shift timings.
  • Step 5: Save your city intimation slip for future use.

SSC CHSL 2026 Admit Card will only be released for candidates who will complete their application process once announced. Applicants need their registration number and password to download their admit cards. By following the process below, the admit card can be obtained by the aspirants.

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the link that reads – Download SSC CHSL admit card.

Step 3: Submit the allotted credentials, like registration number and date of birth, to log in.

SSC will release the SSC CHSL Answer Key 2026 on its official website, ssc.gov.in. The response sheet PDF is also released shift-wise for all the candidates who attempted the examination. SSC CHSL Result Tier 1

The Commission usually releases the results for the SSC CHSL Tier 1 examination after two months from the successful completion of the examination process. Candidates will be able to check their individual scorecards from their respective regional websites.

SSC CHSL Result Tier 2

Candidates shortlisted to appear for the  SSC CHSL Tier 2 examination will be able to check the results along with the cutoff list. Candidates will be available on the website of the Commission for a certain period after the release of the results. Candidates are expected to download the SSC CHSL results PDF within that span.

SSC CHSL Final Result

As per the SSC CHSL final results notification,  the selection and allocation of Ministries/ Departments/ Offices to the candidates is based on their qualification in DV and Tier-III (Skill Test) and their performance in ‘Tier-I +Tier-II’ examinations, along with the preference of Posts/ Departments given by them at the time of Document Verification.

Candidates applying for the SSC CHSL must know the SSC CHSL cutoff to qualify for the examination. The SSC CHSL exam is conducted in two tiers. However, the final merit list is created based on the results of the Tier 1 and Tier 2 examinations only. Tier 2 session II has been divided into two parts, which consist of a test/skill test which needs to be qualified for being eligible for the selection process.

What is the SSC CHSL Tier-1 Exam Pattern?

The SSC CHSL exam is divided into four portions, each with 25 questions, totalling 100 questions and 200 marks (maximum 50 marks in each section). The Tier-1 exam will last for 60 minutes (80 Minutes for candidates eligible for scribes).
