SSC CGL 2026 Exam: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) opened the SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) application correction window on July 1, 2026 and the correction window will close on July 3, 2026. Candidates who are still left to edit their particulars in the application form must visit the official website, ssc.gov.in and correct their details before the dedaline. Once the application window closes, no applicant will be allowed to change their details. SC reopened the CGL 2026 registration window from June 23 to June 25, 2026, for candidates who were unable to submit their application form within the stipulated time provided by the examination body due to several reasons. The SSC CGL 2026 application window was originally opened on May 21, 2026, and the last date to submit the forms was June 22, 2026. 

As per the official notification, the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam 2026 will be held from August to September 2026, and the Tier 2 exam will be conducted in December 2026. Before applying for the SSC CGL exam 2026, candidates were required to go through the SSC CGL 2026 eligibility criteria. This year, SSC announced a total of 12,256 vacancies tentatively. SSC CGL Exam 2026

As stated above, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the CGL exam to fill various posts under Group B and Group C in different government ministries and departments. Some of the posts offered by SSC CGL are Income Tax Inspector, Assistant Section Officer, Central Excise Inspector, Assistant Audit Officer, Assistant Account Officer, Junior Statistical Officer, and many others. 

The SSC CGL 2026 notification was released on May 21, 2026. The registration for the SSC CGL exam also started along with the release of the notification. Eligible candidates could fill out the SSC CGL application form 2026 till June 22, 2026. The official notice has exam details such as the complete schedule, exam pattern, and syllabus. A total of 12,256 SSC CGL vacancies have been released by the commission.

Candidates who are interested in appearing for the Combined Graduate Level exam should first check the SSC CGL eligibility 2026. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts a Combined Graduate Level Examination (SSC CGL) for filling various Group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’ posts in different Ministries/ Departments/ Organisations of the Government of India.

SSC CGL Registration 2026

SSC opened the application correction window on July 1 and the last date to make changes in the registration form is July 3, 2026. SSC reopened the SSC CGL registration window on June 23, 2026, for applicants who were unable to fill out their forms due to several reasons. The last date to register for the exam was June 25, 2026, up to 11 PM. SSC CGL application form 2026 was released on the official website along with the notification on May 21, 2026. Earlier, the last date to apply for SSC CGL 2026 was June 22, 2026. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can register for the exam at ssc.gov.in. Applicants who are registering for the exam for the first time have to fill out the complete application form. Already registered candidates will see that their application form will already be half-filled. However, they have to pay the registration fee of INR 100 to successfully complete the application process.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates aspiring to appear for the SSC CGL 2026 are required to fulfil the eligibility criteria as prescribed by the Commission. Candidates can check the SSC CGL eligibility criteria. 

• Nationality: Candidates applying for the SSC CGL 2026 must be citizens of India. Along with this, the candidates who are subjects of Nepal, Bhutan, or Tibetan refugees who came over to India before the 1st January 1962, are also eligible to apply for the exam. 
• Age Limit: The maximum and minimum age limit to fill the SSC CGL 2026 application form is 18 to 32 years as on January 01, 2023. However, age relaxation has been provided to the reserved category candidates. 
• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized University or institution. However, candidates who are in the final year of their graduation can also apply, provided they possess essential qualifications on or before the cut-off date, i.e., October 8, 2022. 

SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2026

SSC CGL Exam is conducted in 2 tiers: Tier-1 and Tier 2. Candidates have to qualify for each tier to become eligible to appear in the subsequent phases of the examination. SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern 

• SSC will conduct Tier 1 in Computer-Based mode. 
• The exam has four subjects, including General Intelligence Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. 
• The Tier 1 examination is conducted for a duration of 1 hour, where the students will have to answer 100 questions of 2 marks each. 
• For every wrong answer, 0.50 marks will be deducted from the score

SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern

• Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam 2026 will be administered. Paper I, which is required for every position,
• Candidates applying for the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation's Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) positions must complete Paper II.
• Only those shortlisted in Tier I for the positions of Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer would be eligible for Paper-III. 
• There will be negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section-I, Section-II and Section-III of Paper-I and of 0.50
  marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II and Paper-III.

SSC CGL Vacancy 2026

This year, SSC is planning to conduct recruitment for over 12,256 posts available in various ministries and departments of the Government of India. However, the exact number of SSC CGL vacancies will be announced in due course of recruitment by the examination authority.

SSC CGL Salary 2026

The candidates qualifying for the SSC CGL examination are recruited in Group B and Group C. The SSC CGL salary for candidates qualifying for Group B gazetted post is based on Pay Level-8, and the salary range for this pay is between Rs. 47600 and 1,51,100.

Meanwhile, candidates qualifying for the SSC CGL exams for the group B & C posts are salaried in 4 different pay levels, starting from level 4 and going till level 7. The salary range for this group is between 25,500 and 151,100.

SSC CGL Admit Card 2026

After the completion of the application process, SSC will release the admit card for the Tier 1 examination in due course. The SSC CGL admit card is generally released 10 days before the examination. Candidates who have successfully applied for the SSC CGL examination will have to download the admit card from the official SSC websites. SSC CGL Answer Key 2026

Once the Examination is conducted, the commission releases a provisional answer key and response sheet. Candidates can also challenge the provisional answer key by submitting a fee of Rs 100/ Question. Once the Challenge window closes, SSC will release the final answer key, and then the results for the examination will be declared.

SSC CGL Results 2026

SSC CGL selection process is conducted in multiple stages. The commission will release the SSC CGL  2026 Result for Tier 1 and Tier 2 on the official website after the exams are successfully concluded. To access the result, candidates will be required to enter their registration number and password in the result login window once activated on the official website - ssc.gov.in. 

SSC CGL Cut Off 2026

SSC CGL Selection Process 2026

The candidate appearing for the SSC CGL recruitment process will have to go through multiple stages of the selection process. The final appointment will be allotted to those candidates who have successfully completed all the stages of the selection process. Every year, over 30 lakh candidates register for the examination, and around 15 lakh students appear in the SSC CGL examination.
