SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2025: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has provided detailed information about the SSC CHSL Examination pattern. As per the official SSC CHSL Notification, the examination pattern is prescribed in two tiers– Tier 1 will be an objective-type computer-based examination, and Tier 2 will be an objective-type computer-based examination and skill test.
The SSC CHSL exam will be conducted for recruitment of candidates with higher secondary level educational qualifications in various posts of Lower Divisional Clerk/ Junior Secretariat Assistant, Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant and Departments/ Offices of the Government of India and various Constitutional Bodies/ Data Entry Operators in various Ministries/ Statutory Bodies/ Tribunals, etc

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam Pattern 2025
Tier 1 of SSC CHSL will be conducted in online computer-based mode and will be objective type multiple choice questions (MCQ). The question will be available in both English and Hindi language for all sections except English Language.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Marking Scheme
- Every correct answer will get 2 marks
- The exam has negative marking which means that 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer
- For questions left unattempted, no mark will be awarded or deducted
SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2025
The phase of the examination is pen and paper-based. Tier II of the SSC CHSL new exam pattern consists of three parts with two modules each. Check out the details below. The exam is conducted in objective type, multiple choice questions except for Module II of Section 3.

Skill Test for SSC CHSL Data Entry Operator Post
- There is a mandatory skill test for Data Entry Operators. Skill tests are mandatory for all candidates.
- 8,000 (Eight Thousand) key depressions per hour for computerised data input.
- This test will last 15 minutes and each candidate will receive printed matter in English
- For the post of Data Entry Operator Grade ‘A’ in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG): The 'speed of 15000 (Fifteen Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer. The duration of the Test will be 15 minutes and printed matter in English containing about 3700-4000 key depressions would be given to each candidate
Typing Test for PA/SA & LC:
- Candidates can appear for the examination in either Hindi or English. In the online application form, applicants must select Hindi or English as their preferred language for the typing test.
- Candidates choosing the English language option should be able to type at least 35 words per minute (w.p.m. ), or 10,500 key presses per hour.
- Candidates choosing Hindi as their language of instruction should be able to type 30 words per minute (w.p.m. ), or 9,000 key depressions per hour.
- Candidates eligible for scribe will be given a compensatory time of 5 minutes. As a result, the Typing Test for these applicants will last 15 minutes. Candidates for the VH typing exam who selected steno in the online application form will, in the meantime, receive passage dictaphones.
SSC CHSL Syllabus 2025
It is necessary that aspirants applying for the SSC CHSL Examination 2025 should be aware of the SSC CHSL Syllabus. As per the SSC CHSL Tier 1 examination pattern mentioned above, tier 1 will be divided into 4 subjects – General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, General Intelligence, and English Language. The difficulty level of this paper will be based on the 10+2 level. Moreover, the difficulty level of the SSC CGL Tier 2 will also be based on the 10+2 level.
