SSC GD Eligibility Criteria: The Staff Service Commission (SSC) will release the detailed SSC GD Constable Notification 2025 on its official website on August 27, 2024. The registration process will start from August 27, 2024 and the last date to fill out the application form was October 5, 2024. Candidates aspiring to appear for the SSC GD exam are advised to read the notification carefully to know the post-wise eligibility criteria.

The Staff Selection Commission conducts SSC GD exam for recruitment to the posts of Constable (General Duty) for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), SSF, Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles and Sepoy in Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Selected candidates will be recruited in Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Secretariat Security Force (SSF), Rifleman (General Duty) in Assam Rifles (AR) and Sepoy in NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau).

The recruitment examination is conducted by the SSC as per the Recruitment Scheme formulated by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) . The SSC GD Constable recruitment process will consist of Computer Based examination, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), Medical Examination & Document Verification.

SSC GD Constable Eligibility: Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for the SSC GD Constable must have a minimum qualification of 10th standard or Matriculation from a recognized board. Candidates without the required qualifications cannot apply for the position. Apart from this candidates with 12th, UG and PG degrees from a recognised institution are also eligible to apply for the SSC GD recruitment process provided that they meet the age limit for application.

SSC GD Constable Eligibility: Nationality Status

As per the SSC official notification, aspirants applying for the SSC GD posts must be an Indian citizen only. Vacancies in CAPFs & AR are state/UT/area wise hence a candidate must submit domicile/ PRC (Permanent Residence Certificate) against his state/ UT.

SSC GD Constable Eligibility: Age limit 

Candidates applying for the SSC constable post should be between 18- 23 years as on 01-01-2023. This year, SSC has availed an age relaxation of 3 years for all the candidates because of the unprecedented covid situation. However, in the normal course, candidates cannot be less than should not have been born earlier than 02-01-2000 and later than 01-01-2005.

In the normal course of events, candidates cannot have been born earlier than 02-01-2000 and later than 01-01-2005. Nevertheless, the candidate should not have been born earlier than 02-01-1997 after a relaxation of three (03) years in upper age. The age relaxation provided by the commission is a one-time measure for aspiring candidates affected by the pandemic. Therefore, the reserved candidates will receive 3 years of age relaxation apart from the relaxation already available to them as per their category.

The SSC GD constable eligibility also provides age relaxation to the candidates as per the criteria prescribed by the Commission. Candidates belonging to the SC/ ST/ OBC, Ex-serviceman, and other categories of persons are eligible to avail of the age relaxation. SSC GD Constable Eligibility: Physical Standard Test

Candidates applying for the SSC GD must qualify the Physical Standard Test conducted by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). Those who qualify the Computer Based Test will be shortlisted for the Physical Eligibility Test/Physical Standard Test. The Physical Eligibility Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) will be conducted at various centres across India.

Candidates who pass the height requirements must take a physical eligibility test (PET), which is followed by fingerprint or technology-assisted identity. The table below includes information on the physical requirements for males and females.

Height:

The minimum height for candidates shortlisted for the Physical Standard Test (PST) will be 170 cm for males and 157 cm for females.

Applicants from reserved categories are permitted a height relaxation. For these applicants, the relaxed height requirement is as follows:

Male applicants who have been selected for the Physical Standard Test (PST) must have a minimum chest measurement of 80 cms un-expanded with a minimum growth of 5 cm. Meanwhile, the chest measurement for female applicants will not be kept track of.

According to the SSC GD notification, applicants who requested a height and chest measurement relaxation will be subject to inspection after passing the PET (race) and before the PST by the CAPFs PET/ PST Boards.

Detailed Medical Examination (DME) for SSC GD Constable 2025

The following levels of medical evaluation will be included in the Detailed Medical Examination (DME). A candidate shall be deemed ineligible for qualification for the General Duty Constable jobs if he or she fails to pass any one or all of these tests:

The candidates must have visual acuity in the poorer eye of no less than 6/9. Any type of visual correction is not allowed.

  • Hearing Standards: This medical check will involve hearing tests and an eardrum examination. Additionally, any degree of deafness, discharge, hearing loss, or other conditions will be examined.
  • Dental Exam: Candidates will have their teeth checked for decay and loss to determine if they have enough teeth to chew food. Additionally, the gums will be carefully examined.
  • Exam on Standing: During this test, the panel will determine whether the candidate's head, neck, chest wall, and upper extremities, from the fingers to the shoulder joints, are all functioning normally.
  • Examination of Lower Extremities: From the toes up, both lower limbs are inspected for flat feet, bow legs, hammer toes, and other abnormalities.
  • In addition, the SSC GD Medical test will also screen candidates for skin conditions and leprosy, as well as their inguinal region and genital, heart and vascular system, and abdomen.
