GPSC Syllabus 2023: GPSC also known as Gujarat Public Service Commission is responsible for conducting government examinations in order to recruit candidates for various posts offered under the state government’s administration. In order to prepare for the exams, candidates must be well aware of the GPSC syllabus which is available on the official website of the GPSC. The GPSC exam 2023 has two different levels including prelims and mains, the syllabi for both the levels are different from one another.

While the GPSC prelims exam has just two papers GS 1 and GS 2, the mains exam has 6 papers including Gujarati, English, Essay, GS 1, GS 2 and GS 3. The GS exam stands for general studies. Although GS 1 and 2 have the same sub-topics as prelim exams, GS 3 consists of different sub-topics. Candidates must know that in order to appear for the last stage which is the interview stage, candidates must qualify for both the stages including the prelims and mains.

The main aim of conducting the GPSC is to recruit students for civil service in the Gujarat state. The government offers posts under Class I and Class II Vacancies and candidates have to qualify the  Gujarat Civil Services Exam to get recruited to those posts. The prelims exam has 2 subjects including general studies 1 and general studies 2. The questions in both exams will be asked in the MCQ format. The duration of the exam is 120 minutes. Both papers are of 200 marks respectively and it is essential for students to qualify for the exam.

GPSC Mains Syllabus 2023

The GPSC mains syllabus is the second stage of the civil service examination. Candidates who will qualify for the prelims will move to the mains stage. Further, those candidates who will qualify for the mains stage will then move to the interview stage. Candidates must know that the mains stage is descriptive in nature which means that the GPSC mains exam is a written exam and candidates have to answer all the questions thoroughly. 

The mains exam has 6 subjects and each subject is of 150 marks. As a result, the total marks of the GPSC mains exam is 900. The duration of the exam is 3 hours for each paper. While the first three subjects are English, Gujarati, and Essay, the other three subjects are General Studies 1, General Studies 2 and General Studies 3.

The interview is the final stage where candidates will be judged on the answers they give. Once the candidate has qualified for the prelims and mains stage, they will reach the interview stage. Although there is no specified syllabus for the interview stage. However, candidates can refer to some of the most important points which should be kept in mind while preparing for the interview stage.
