GPSC Exam Pattern 2023: The GPSC exam pattern is released by the Gujarat Public Service Commission. The exam pattern is released on the official website in a PDF format. Candidates must note that the exam pattern is an essential aspect for students who will be appearing for the civil service exam. Since the GPSC exam has three stages, the exam pattern is different for all three stages. The main aim of the GPSC exam pattern is to shed light on the issue of exam type, duration of exam, total questions, whether the exam has negative marking or not and other such questions.

Candidates should also note that the exam has negative marking which means that 1.3 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

The exam pattern is usually based on the previous year’s exam pattern. Although there are no changes in the exam pattern. However, if the GPSC exam pattern is changed, then the students will be informed through the official website and a notification will be released on the official portal. 

GPSC Exam Pattern for Prelims Stage 2023

The first stage of the GPSC exam is the prelim exam. The exam is conducted in MCQ format and the duration of the exam is 3 hours. Further, candidates must note that in order to appear for the GPSC mains exam, candidates should qualify for the prelims stage. • The GPSC prelims syllabus has two subjects including General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II
• The prelim exam is conducted in MCQ format 
• The duration prelim exam is 3 hours. 
• The total question in the prelims exam is 150 in both GS papers 1 and 2. 
• Each exam is of 200 marks which mean that the total marks in the prelims exam are 400 marks
• The GPSC prelim exam has negative marking which means that 1.3 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer
• The GPSC prelims examination is qualifying in nature. In order to qualify for the exam student needs to score 33%. 

GPSC Exam Pattern for Mains Stage 2023

Once the candidate has cleared the GPSC prelims exam, they will be eligible to appear for the GPSC Mains exam. The main exam is conducted in descriptive form. There are 6 subjects in the GPSC syllabus and each exam is conducted for 3 hours. Once the candidate has qualified for the GPSC mains exam, then the students will be eligible to appear for the interview stage. The interview stage is the final stage.
