Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh: Punjab Engineering College was founded in 1921 in Lahore as Mugalpura Engineering College. It was renamed as Punjab Engineering College in 1953 and moved to its present campus, spread across an area of 146 acres in the unicorn territory of Chandigarh.
Punjab Engineering College was affiliated with Punjab University, it was given the status of deemed-to-be university in 2003 by the government of India. PEC offers undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programs in engineering, in its 9 academic departments and 2 centers of excellence. The admission to UG and PG programs are made through national-level examinations namely JEE (Mains) and GATE respectively.
