The National Institute of  Technology Silchar (NIT Silchar) is a deemed engineering college situated in Assam, India. The institute was established in 1967. NIT Silchar’s campus is spread over 625 acres and has a total of 11 departments. NIT Silchar NIRF ranking for 2024 is #40 for the engineering category in India, whereas the overall rank of the institute stands at #92. 

NIT Silchar's flagship course is B.Tech. and M.Tech programs. NIT Silchar B.Tech mandates a Higher Secondary Certificate degree (10+2) with 75% marks. Later seats will be allocated to candidates based on the JEE Main rank followed by a counselling process by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSSA). The minimum JEE Main rank required for admission to the B.Tech program was 7300 for 2022. In the academic year 2021-2022, NIT Silchar undertook 825 students in their UG program.

NIT Silchar admission for MTech requires a graduate degree with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks for the GEN/EWS/OBC category, whereas 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks is required for SC/ST/PwD category candidates. The allocation of the seats will be based on the GATE score followed by the Centralised Counselling (CCMT). The minimum GATE score for 2023 required for admission to the MTech program is 400. In the academic year 2021-2022, NIT Silchar undertook 368 students in their PG program.
