NIT Goa: Admission, Placements, Courses & Fees

Established in 2010, the National Institute of Technology Goa (NIT Goa) is among the thirty-one NITs in India established under the NIT Act, 2007 and NIT (Amendment) Act, 2012. Located in the hilly terrain of Farmagudi, Ponda, NIT Goa offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees in engineering, architecture, management, commerce, basic sciences, arts, humanities, and social sciences. 

The most popular program offered at NIT Goa is B.Tech. NIT Goa B.Tech. admission mandates candidates with a Higher Secondary Certificate degree (10+2) with a minimum of 75% of marks. NIT Goa admission to the B.Tech. program is based on a national-level entrance examination (JEE Main scores). Joint seat allocation will be as per the Centralized JoSAA/DASA counseling. For international candidates, seats will be allocated through CIWG Counselling. As per the NIRF report 2024 , NIT Goa admitted 701 students (552 males and 149 female seats) under the UG program.

B.Tech tuition fees at NIT Goa are INR 62,500 per semester for general candidates (GEN/OBC). SC/ST/PH candidates are exempt from tuition fees. Candidates from the Most Economically Backward category whose family income is less than INR 1 lakh will receive a full tuition remission. Candidates from the Other Economically Backward category (whose family income is between INR 1 and 5 lakh) will receive a two-thirds tuition remission.

B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is the most demanding program at NIT Goa. NIT Goa CSE opening and closing rank for 2024 is 22250 and 34858(for Gender-Neutral candidates in the home state), and 7914 and 12511 (for Gender-Neutral candidates in the other states) for the general category candidates in round 6 of JoSAA Counselling. 

Moving ahead, the NIT Goa placement report for 2024 reflects its commitment to providing opportunities to its graduating students. The highest and average CTC were INR 20 LPA and INR 9.4 LPA. NIT Goa M.Tech. Admission 2025

NIT Goa M.Tech admission in Computer Science and Engineering, VLSI, and Power Electronics and Power Engineering will require a valid GATE score followed by the Centralized Counseling (CCMT). The vacant seats after CCMT counselling process will be filled through the institute's examination mode.

NIT Goa Ph.D. Admission 2025

NIT Goa  Ph.D. admission in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and  Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics mandates a master’s degree with a minimum of 6.5 CGPA. The selection criteria will be based on the NIT Goa’s entrance test followed by a personal interview.  Candidates with a valid UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/GATE score will be given preference. They are exempted from taking the institute’s entrance test and will be directly shortlisted for the interview round. The last date to apply for PhD admission is June 15, 2024.

NIT Goa Cutoff 2025

Cutoffs for JEE Main and GATE exams have yet to be released for the academic year 2025. For admission at NIT Goa, applicants are advised to first check their scorecard and then prepare the important documents required at the time of the final counseling or interview round.
