The National Institute of Technology Meghalaya (NIT Meghalaya) is among the thirty-one NITs in India established under the NIT Act 2007. The institute is currently operating from its temporary site in Shillong. NIT Meghalaya NIRF Ranking 2024 is 68th in the engineering category. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees in engineering, architecture, management, basic sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Founded in 2010, NIT Meghalaya has a sprawling campus of 300 acres. 

B.Tech is the most popular program offered at NIT Meghalaya. NIT Meghalaya B.Tech. admission mandates candidates with a Higher Secondary Certificate degree (10+2) with 75% marks. Admission to the B.Tech. program is based on valid JEE Main scores. Seats will be then allocated as per the JoSAA counseling. For international candidates, joint seat allocation will be done through CSAB Counselling. In 2022-23, NIT Meghalaya admitted 454 students under the UG program. NIT Meghalaya B.Tech tuition fee is INR 24,650 per semester for candidates from the Open/OBC-NCL/EWS category.

The joint seat allocations will be through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) and the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) for international candidates. NIT Meghalaya M.Tech admission will require a valid GATE score through the Centralized Counseling (CCMT). The vacant seats after CCMT 2025 will be filled through the institute's mode. The first priority will be given to candidates holding a valid GATE score. A tabulated detail for CCMT 2025 are given below:

NIT Meghalaya M.Sc. Admission 2025

NIT Meghalaya M.Sc. admission in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics will be based on the IIT JAM score followed by CCMN counselling. If there are any vacant seats after the CCMN admission process, they will be filled through the Institute Mode. To apply for Institute Mode admission, candidates will need to contact participating institutes directly. The application process and eligibility criteria may vary from institute to institute.

The merit list for Institute Mode admission will be based on the weighted marks of 70% on B.Sc. Honours/Major (or up to 5th semester/2nd-year marks for result awaited candidates) and 30% on core Science subjects of class 12 exam. The CCMN 2025 dates are as given below:

NIT Meghalaya Ph.D. Admission 2025

NIT Meghalaya  Ph.D. admission in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and  Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics happens twice a year, in the spring semester (January) and the autumn semester (July). The selection criteria will be based on the institute’s entrance test followed by a personal interview.

Cutoffs for JEE Main have not been released for the academic year 2025 for admission in different courses at NIT Meghalaya. Candidates are advised to prepare for the final counseling round or an interview round.
