CTET Exam Pattern 2025: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) prepares the exam pattern for CTET exam. Aspirants can download the CTET exam pattern pdf from the official website. The main objective of the CTET exam pattern is for candidates to understand the CTET negative marking, duration of the exam, and other information. CTET exam pattern paper 1 is different from paper 2.  

Apart from the exam pattern, candidates should also check CTET's previous year's question paper and syllabus. CTET syllabus 2025 pdf is also available on the official website. Meanwhile, the exam pattern for CTET helps a candidate to prepare for the exam in a more organised way without wasting any time. 

Aspirants are advised to check the complete CTET exam pattern before starting the exam preparation. The CTET exam consists of two papers. While CTET paper 1 is for those candidates who want to become a teacher of the primary level school stage -- classes 1 to 5, CTET paper 2 is for those candidates who want to become a teacher for the elementary stage -- classes 6 to 8.  Candidates who want to teach classes 1 to 8 are required to appear for both the CTET paper I and paper II. 

CTET Exam Pattern 2025

The CTET exam contains two papers and both papers in total contain 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). For each correct answer, candidates will be awarded with 1 mark. Candidates should also note that there is no negative marking for any wrong or unattempted answers in both CTET Paper I and Paper II.  

CTET exam 2025 will be conducted in online mode, and the questions will be conceptual. The CBSE  has not set any limitation to choosing any papers, and candidates can appear for both papers.

  • To qualify for the CTET exam 2025, candidates should have good knowledge of the CTET syllabus and the marking scheme of both CTET paper 1 and paper 2.  
  • Paper 1 of the CTET consists of 5 subjects and has a total of 150 questions which carries one mark each. 
  • On the other hand, CTET paper 2 also has 5 subjects. However, paper 2 has a  choice between science & maths, and social science. The question paper will consist of 150 questions, and every correct answer will get one mark.

CTET Exam Pattern 2025: Paper 1

CTET Exam Pattern for Paper I consist of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and candidates are required to attempt those questions in 2.5 hours. The CTET exam 2024 will take place in online mode as a computer-based test. The five sections listed below are represented in the CTET question paper.

Candidates who wish to apply as teachers for classes 1 to 5 appear for the CTET paper 1. Paper 1 of CTET contains 5 sections, and each section has 30 questions and each question consists of one mark, which leads to a total mark of 150. 

CTET Exam Pattern 2025: Paper 2

CTET exam pattern for CTET paper II consists of 150 objective-type questions for 150 marks. Same to CTET paper I, CTET paper II will also be conducted online mode.  The CTET paper 2 is for those candidates who wish to become a teacher for classes 6 to 8. Questions from the following four areas are included in the Paper 2 CTET Question Paper:

CTET Marking Scheme 2025 

Along with the CTET  exam pattern, candidates should also have a better understanding of the CTET marking scheme to get good CTET result 2025. The marks for the CTET exam are distributed for correct and wrong answers. 

  • As per the CTET Exam pattern, paper 1 consists of 5 subjects with 150 questions of one mark each. 
  • Paper 2 has five subjects total and offers the options of social science and science & maths. There will be 150 questions, with one mark awarded for each accurate response.
  • There is no negative marking in CTET 2025
