SSC GD Exam Pattern 2024: The SSC GD Constable exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). The SSC GD selection process is conducted in 3 stages. The Staff Selection Commission administers a computer-based test as the first stage of the SSC GD exam pattern. The Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Physical Standard Test (PET), Detailed Medical Examination & Document Verification are the next stages which candidates have to go through for final selection.

In 2022, SSC revised the SSC GD examination pattern. The revision in the SSC GD CBE exam pattern are as follows:

  • The maximum score has been increased from 100 to 160
  • The number of marks granted to each question has increased from one to two.
  • The number of questions has been reduced from 100 to 80. 
  • The negative marking for giving incorrect answers has increased from 0.25 to 0.50 marks. 
  • The duration of the examination has been reduced from 90 minutes to 60 minutes.

The selected candidates will be recruited by the following Paramilitary armed police forces: 

  1. Border Security Force (BSF)
  2. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
  3. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
  4. Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)
  5. Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Secretariat Security Force (SSF)
  6. Secretariat Security Force (SSF)
  7. Rifleman (General Duty) in Assam Rifles (AR) 
  8. Sepoy in NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau).

SSC is expected to conduct the Constable (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), SSF, Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles and Sepoy in Narcotics Control Bureau Examination, 2023 in February and March 2024 for candidates with a minimum education qualification of 10th standard. The official notification for the SSC GD Constable was released on November 24, 2023. The registration process to start from November 24, 2023, and the last date to apply was December 31, 2023.

SSC GD Tier 1: Computer-Based Examination (CBE)

  • The Tier 1 exam will be an online, multiple-choice test as per the revised SSC GD Constable Exam pattern.
  • There are four sections with a total of 80 questions on the exam.
  • SSC GD Constable Tier I exam duration is 60 minutes.
  • SSC GD online tests carry a negative marking of 0.50 for each incorrect answer.
  • This online exam will ask questions of the High School (10th) level.
  • English and Hindi are the only languages used in the Computer Based Examination (CBE).

SSC GD Exam Pattern 2024 for PET & PST

Candidates shortlisted after the CBE will have to qualify the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) in the next phase. In the phase candidates will have to prove their physical efficiency by participating and completing the race as per the conditions prescribed for male and female candidates by the CAPFs at the designated centers. 

The Conditions for completing the race are as follows:

SSC GD Constable 2024: Physical Standard Test

As the recruitment is being conducted for the Defence forces, candidates shortlisted through the PET, will have to go through a physical examination focused on checking the height and chest measurement of the candidates. The SSC GD PST is prescribed in the official notification for both male and female candidates.

Physical standard Height:

  • Male candidates: 170 cm
  • Female candidates: 157 cm

Note: There are also Height relaxations for candidates belonging to certain areas and categories.

Physical standard Chest:

  • Male: 80 cm Unexpanded with a minimum expansion of 5 cm
  • Female: Exempted

Note: The chest measurement will not be taken for female candidates.

SSC GD CONSTABLE 2024: Detailed Medical Examination 

Candidates shortlisted from the PET/PST round will have to qualify the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) for final selection. The DME will be conducted in the following parameters: 

  • Visual Standards: The candidates must have visual acuity in the poorer eye of no less than 6/9. Any type of visual correction is not allowed.
  • Hearing Standards: This medical check will involve hearing tests and an eardrum examination. Additionally, any degree of deafness, discharge, hearing loss, or other conditions will be examined.
  • Dental Exam: Candidates will have their teeth checked for decay and loss to determine if they have enough teeth to chew food. Additionally, the gums will be carefully examined.
  • Standing Posture: During this test, the panel will determine whether the candidate's head, neck, chest wall, and upper extremities, from the fingers to the shoulder joints, are all functioning normally.
  • Examination of Lower Body: From the toes up, both lower limbs are inspected for flat feet, bow legs, hammer toes, and other abnormalities.
  • Skin: In addition, the SSC GD Medical test will also screen candidates for skin conditions and leprosy, as well as their inguinal region and genital, heart and vascular system, and abdomen.

The collection of required eligibility certificates/ documents from the candidates and their verification will be carried out at the time of the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) by the CAPFs.
