PPSC Eligibility 2023: Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) conducts the Combined Competitive Examination for appointment to Punjab State Civil Services. In addition to the Punjab State Civil Services Examination, PPSC also conducts recruitment exams for various posts such as District Defence Services Welfare Officer, Register A-II and Register C positions.
PPSC releases the eligibility criteria for the various positions on its official website. Most Group-A posts need candidates to hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. Further, several posts require candidates to have cleared their matriculation (Class 10) along with the Punjabi language examination or its equivalent. There is also an upper age limit and minimum age limit for most positions under Punjab Public Services Commission.
Candidates can take the Punjab State Civil Services Examination for a maximum of 4 times. Furthermore, candidates of the examination should be at least 21 years of age and should not have attained the age of 35 years. However, for Punjab Police Services, candidates should not have reached the age of 28 years.

Punjab State Civil Services Examination: Eligibility
Educational Qualification
- Candidates need a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized institution or university.
- Aspirants are allowed to appear for the Punjab State Civil Services Preliminary examination while pursuing their degree.
- However, candidates must submit proof of having passed their Bachelor’s degree course to be eligible for the Punjab State Civil Services Final examination during that year.
- Candidates must note that they will be permitted to appear for the preliminary examination only if they have cleared their matriculation (Class 10) examination with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects or any other equivalent examination of the Punjabi language.
Number of Attempts
- Candidates can appear for the Punjab State Civil Services Examination for a maximum of 4 times.
Age
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old and should not have attained the age of 35 years on the first day of the year in which the last day falls for submission of the application to the examination.
- However, in the case of the Punjab Police Service, the minimum age requirement is 21 years and the candidate should not have attained the age of 28 years on the first day of the year in which the last date falls for application submission.
PPSC District Defence Services Welfare Officer: Eligibility
- The candidate should be a Former Indian Commissioned Officer of the rank of Lieutenant Colonel/Colonel or equivalent rank of the Indian Air Force or Indian Navy.
- Candidates are required to submit release order and Pension payment order issued by the respective authorities.
- Candidates must be matriculate of a recognized university or hold equivalent qualifications.
- Aspirants should have cleared the Punjabi language examination in Class 10 or its equivalent level.
- Candidates should be at least 25 years old and not more than 55 years of age as on the first day of the year on which the last date of submission of application falls.
- However, there is a relaxation of the upper age limit for Former Indian Commissioned Officers who are recipients of gallantry awards of the Vir Chakra series.
PPSC Register A-II and Register C: Eligibility
- The candidate must have completed 8 years of continuous service under the Government.
- Candidates should not have attained the age of 54 years on 1st November preceding the date of submission of names by the concerned authorities.
- Aspirants should have graduated from a recognized university or institution.
