Meanwhile, CSIR NET 2023 was conducted from June 06 to June 08, 2023. The exam was conducted for 3 hours and the questions asked in the CSIR NET exam is in MCQ mode. The CSIR NET Exam will consist of MCQ format questions. The CSIR NET exam in total will consist of 120 questions and each question will carry 2 marks. This makes the total numbers in the exam 200.

CSIR NET 2024 Exam Pattern 

The CSIR NET exam will consist of three parts including Part A, B and C. For all the subjects the total number of questions in all three parts varies. Hence, it is very important for candidates to consider the exam pattern before beginning the preparation for the CSIR NET exam.  Part A is common to all subjects and will evaluate candidates' overall ability, whereas Part B and C will feature questions relevant to their respective subjects. The total number of questions that candidates need to attempt is also different for each subject.

CSIR NET 2024 Exam Pattern for Chemical Science 

Candidates can take a look at the following exam pattern for the subject of Chemical Science : 

  • The subject consists of a total of 120 MCQ-type questions and candidates are required to attempt only 75 questions out of 120. 
  • Candidates will be given four alternative options for each question and aspirants have to tick only one of them. 
  • While Part A and B carry 2 marks each for a question, Part C carries 4 marks for one question. 
  • The exam consists of negative marking which means that 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer given in Part A and B.
  • Candidates have to attempt 15, 35 and 25 questions in Parts A, B, C. Meanwhile, Parts A, B, and C will have 20, 40 and 60 questions.

CSIR NET 2024 Exam Pattern for Earth Science 

Aspirants can take a look at the following exam pattern for Earth and science 

  • For each query, candidates must select the best answer from the available four choices.
  • Parts A and B questions each carry two marks, with a 0.5-point deduction for a wrong answer.
  • Candidates must answer a maximum of 15, 35, and 25 of the 20, 50, and 80 questions in Parts-A, B, and C of the Earth Sciences exam, respectively.
  • Part C questions are worth 4 marks each, and the candidate can lose 1.32 points for an incorrect answer.

CSIR NET 2024 Exam Pattern for Mathematical Science 

Candidates can take a look at the exam pattern for Mathematical science given below:

  • Each question will have four possible answers. Questions in Parts A and B will only have one correct response, however questions in Part C may have one or more correct responses.
  • Parts A and B have a negative marking of 25%. Nevertheless, Part C does not allow for negative marking.
  • In Part-A, Part-B, and Part-C of the CSIR NET Mathematical Sciences examination, which has 20, 40, and 60 questions, respectively, students are only needed to attempt 15, 25, and 20 questions.
  • Credit will be provided only when a precise number of correct answers is indicated.

CSIR NET Syllabus 2024

The CSIR NET syllabus is prescribed by the CSIR-HRDG (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research's Human Resource Development Group).
