IIM Mumbai was formerly known as NITIE (National Institute of Industrial Technology), the institute has been renamed to become the 21st IIM of the country as of July 12, 2023. IIM Mumbai’s legacy dates back to 1963 when it was established by the Government of India with the support of UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and ILO (International Labour Organisation). The eligibility criteria for an MBA programme is Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD) or equivalent, along with a Common Admission Test (CAT) score.

The placement statistics for the year 2022 for the PGP programme conclude the highest package at 45.37 LPA. Several profiles were offered from sectors such as Retail and e-commerce, FMCG, BFSI, IT/Analytics, Consulting, Manufacturing, Pharma, and others. The highest CTC for PGDEX-VLFM closed at 50 LPA and the average CTC wrapped around 26.2 LPA. The highest salary for DGMP closed at 20 LPA and the average salary came out to be 16.6 LPA. The top recruiters at IIM Mumbai (NITIE) were Airtel, Accenture, Godrej, EY, Cognizant, Cipla, PWC, TVS, TATA, Britannia, and Jio.

IIM Mumbai, formerly NITIE, offers a diverse range of programs to cater to various career aspirations:

• The year 2023 marks a significant milestone in IIM Mumbai's history as it broadens its scope by offering three MBA courses tailored for graduates from all academic backgrounds. Master of Business Administration (MBA): Offering three specialised tracks-

1. MBA General

• Eligibility Criteria: 

• Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD) or equivalent, along with a Common Admission Test (CAT) score.

2. MBA (Operations and Supply Chain Management)

• Eligibility Criteria:

Full-time Engineering/Technology degree in any branch from a recognized university/institution with aggregate 50% marks (relaxed by 5% for SC/ST/PwD candidates). OR Full-time degree from a recognized university with aggregate 50% marks (relaxed by 5% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) in following disciplines.

• M.Sc. (Mathematics)
• M. Sc. (Statistics)
• Dual Degree (Maths and Computing) Minimum 5 yrs.
• BS./B. Tech (Economics) Minimum 4 yrs.

Students in the final year of above degree can also apply subject to the following conditions:

• Provided they qualify the above criteria for examinations appeared till date.
• Complete their examination, viva voce etc, by the time of joining the Institute.

3. MBA (Sustainability Management)

• Eligibility Criteria: 

• Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD) or equivalent, along with a Common Admission Test (CAT) score.

Doctoral Level Fellowship Program: Equivalent to a PhD, it prepares individuals for careers in academia, research, business, and consulting, covering Management, Ergonomics, and Environmental Management.

PGDEx–VLFM (Visionary Leaders For Manufacturing): A one-year executive diploma program in partnership with IIT Delhi, grooming leaders for mid and senior-level managerial roles, focusing on areas like Operations & Supply Chain Management, Strategic Planning, and Digital transformation. 

Eligibility Criteria:

• -Recognized first-class full-time bachelor's degree in a technological discipline (B.E. or B.Tech.)
• -4 to 10 years of full-time industrial experience in areas like manufacturing, operations, or consulting at the time of application submission

General Management Programme (GMP): Designed for Defence Officers in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, this six-month program equips them with techno-managerial skills for corporate leadership. IIM Mumbai (NITIE) will be starting its first batch soon.
