CSIR Syllabus 2024: The CSIR-HRDG or Council of Scientific and Industrial Research's Human Resource Development Group prescribes the syllabus for CSIR NET exam. Candidates must know that there are 5 subjects in the exam including chemical sciences, earth ,atmospheric, ocean and planetary sciences, life sciences, mathematical sciences and physical sciences. Further candidates should know that the CSIR NET exam is divided into 3 parts, and all three parts will consist of objective type, multiple choice questions.

CSIR NET Exam Pattern 2024

The CSIR NET exam pattern sheds light on topics such as the duration of the exam, total subjects and questions and other information. Candidates can take a look at the following CSIR NET exam pattern down below: 

  • The CSIR NET question paper is bifurcated in three sections including Part A, B and C.

Part A 

  • Questions on general aptitude will be included in this section, with an emphasis on logical thinking, visual analysis, analytical and numerical skills, quantitative comparison, series construction, riddles, etc.

Part B 

  • shall include conventional multiple-choice questions (MCQs) on the subject matter that are connected to the curriculum.

Part C

  • should include higher-level questions that may gauge a candidate's understanding of and/or ability to apply scientific principles. The questions will be analytical in character, requiring the applicant to use their understanding of science to solve the provided scientific problem
  • The total marks of the examination is 200 marks 
  • The exam consists of negative marking which means that 25 per cent (33 per cent for a few parts) will be deducted for each incorrect answer. 
  • The exam format is objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs)
  • The total duration of the examination is three hours and candidates are not allowed to take any break in between.
