CSIR NET Exam Pattern 2024: Subject wise pattern, Marking scheme, Weightage

CSIR NET Exam Pattern 2024: National Testing Agency releases the exam pattern for CSIR NET exam on the official website. The exam pattern consists of information such as subject wise weightage, number of questions, exam duration, and more. Candidates preparing for the CSIR NET exam are advised to check the pattern to study systematically.  

The CSIR NET Exam will consist of MCQ format questions. The question paper in total will consist of 120 questions and each question will carry 2 marks. This makes the total marks in the exam 200. Candidates can also check the CSIR NET marking scheme for the exam. The marking scheme informs candidates about the weightage and negative marking in the examination.

CSIR NET Exam Pattern 2024

The CSIR NET exam will consist of three parts. All the parts will consist of objective type, multiple choice questions. There will be no break between papers. The total number of questions that candidates need to attempt is also different for each subject. Candidates can check the complete exam pattern in the CSIR NET exam information bulletin. 

If a candidate attempts more questions than what is necessary, only the first set of those questions will be scored. Both Hindi and English are used in the CSIR UGC NET test questions. Candidates can take a look at the CSIR NET exam pattern 2023  for each subject in the given below article.

CSIR NET 2024 Exam Pattern for Chemical Science 

Candidates can take a look at the following exam pattern for the subject of Chemical Science : 

• The subject consists of a total of 120 MCQ-type questions and candidates are required to attempt only 75 questions out of 120. 
• Candidates will be given four alternative options for each question and aspirants have to tick only one of them. 
• While Part A and B carry 2 marks each for a question, Part C carries 4 marks for one question. 
• The exam consists of negative marking which means that 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer given in Part A and B.
• Candidates have to attempt 15, 35 and 25 questions in Parts A, B, C. Meanwhile, Parts A, B, and C will have 20, 40 and 60 questions. 

CSIR NET 2024 Exam Pattern for Earth Science 

Aspirants can take a look at the following exam pattern for Earth and science 

• For each query, candidates must select the best answer from the available four choices.
• Parts A and B questions each carry two marks, with a 0.5-point deduction for a wrong answer.
• Candidates must answer a maximum of 15, 35, and 25 of the 20, 50, and 80 questions in Parts-A, B, and C of the Earth Sciences exam, respectively.
• Part C questions are worth 4 marks each, and the candidate can lose 1.32 points for an incorrect answer.

CSIR NET 2024 Exam Pattern for Life Science 

The exam pattern sheds light on several types of questions. Aspirants can take a look at the following exam pattern for life science. 

• Each question will have four possible answers and applicants will only have to select one as their selection.
• There will be questions of 2, 2, and 4 marks in Parts A, B, and C, respectively.
• Candidates are required to answer any 15, 35, or 25 of the 20, 50, and 75 questions in Parts A, B, and C, respectively.
• All sections will receive a 25% negative marking.

CSIR NET 2024 Exam Pattern for Mathematical Science 

Candidates can take a look at the exam pattern for Mathematical science given below:

• Each question will have four possible answers. Questions in Parts A and B will only have one correct response, however questions in Part C may have one or more correct responses.
• Parts A and B have a negative marking of 25%. Nevertheless, Part C does not allow for negative marking.
• In Part-A, Part-B, and Part-C of the CSIR NET Mathematical Sciences examination, which has 20, 40, and 60 questions, respectively, students are only needed to attempt 15, 25, and 20 questions.
• Credit will be provided only when a precise number of correct answers is indicated.

CSIR NET 2024 Exam Pattern for Physical Science 

Aspirants can take a look at the following exam pattern laid by NTA for the subject of Physical Science. 

• There will be four potential answers for each question, but only one of them will be correct.
• Part-A, Part B, and Part C will each have 20, 25, and 30 questions, although only up to 15, 20, and 20 of those questions must be answered by the applicants.

CSIR NET Syllabus 2024

The CSIR NET syllabus is prescribed by the CSIR-HRDG (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research's Human Resource Development Group). The CSIR NET exam includes five subjects, such as chemical sciences, earth atmospheric, ocean and planetary sciences, life sciences, mathematical sciences, and physical sciences. In 'Part A' of the syllabus, candidates will find common subjects, while in 'Part B' they will find conventional MCQs related to their subjects.
