NEET PG Eligibility 2025: The minimum eligibility requirements for NEET PG are set as per the provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956. Aspirants can check the complete eligibility requirements mentioned in the NEET PG exam notification. Students who fulfil the eligibility will be able to fill the NEET PG application form

Candidates must note that the eligibility criteria for NEET PG are based on several factors including age, education qualification, and others. Foreign nationals have different eligibility criteria laid out by the authorities. Candidates who will not fulfil the eligibility criteria will not be eligible to register for the examination. 

The NBE releases the official notification for the NEET PG exam consisting of all the important dates including the form registration, the release of admit card, the exam date, and the result declaration date. In order to register for the medical entrance examination, candidates first need to check the important eligibility criteria for the exam.  

NEET PG Eligibility 2025

Candidates who wish to apply for the NEET PG 2025 examination are advised to check the NEET eligibility criteria prior to filling the application form. NBE will announce the application dates for NEET PG along with the official notification. The eligibility criteria consists of minimum age limit, educational qualifications and nationality.

Age Limit 

Candidates who are appearing for the NEET PG exam should know that there is no age limit to appear for the medical entrance examination. 

Attempt Limit 

As per NBE, a candidate can appear for the examination as many times as they want. There is no limit on the number of attempts for NEET PG candidates. 

Educational Qualification 

Candidates with an MBBS degree or Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate identified in accordance with the provisions of the NMC Act, 2019, and the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, which has since been repealed, may apply for the NEET PG 2024 exam. 

Candidates must also have a permanent or provisional registration certificate of their MBBS qualification issued by the NMC, the former Medical Council of India, or the State Medical Council, and must have completed or be expected to complete their internship on or before March 31, 2024.

Internship 

Candidates who will complete their required rotatory internship of 1 year on or before July 31, 2024, will be eligible to apply for NEET PG 2024. Further, those candidates who will not complete their internship during the given time span will not be able to apply for the examination. 

Registration Dates 

As per the official website of the NBE, "registration with the NMC/ the erstwhile Medical Council of India or State Medical Council is necessary and its documentary proof should be furnished by the candidates on the day of examination and at the time of counselling/admission."

NEET PG Eligibility Criteria 2025: Foreign Graduates

The eligibility factors for candidates who are foreign medical graduates are different as compared to the Indian citizens. Take a look at the NEET PG eligibility criteria for foreign medical graduates. 

Nationality 

Candidates who are Indian Citizens or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) are eligible to appear for the medical entrance examination. 

FMGE Pass Certificate

Indian citizens or overseas citizens of India who have pursued their primary medical qualifications from medical colleges outside India are required to qualify for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (screening test) as per the screening test regulations, 2022. 

Additionally, the candidate should have been registered with the NMC, the former Medical Council of India, or the State Medical Council, and they should have finished their internship by March 31st, 2024, or be on track to do so.

Internship 

In order to qualify for the NEET PG examination, candidates who are foreign nationals are required to finish their internship by July 31, 2024, or earlier.

Registration Certificate

All foreign medical graduates are required to register themselves with the  MCI/SMC after obtaining the FMGE Pass Certificate. These candidates have to submit a copy of the Registration Certificate to confirm their eligibility.

NEET PG Eligibility Criteria 2025: Foreign Nationals

Foreign nationals who wish to apply for the NEET PG exam are required to fulfil the following eligibility conditions.

  • Foreign national candidates should have a basic medical qualification equivalent to MBBS and should be recognized by the National Medical Commission.
  • As per the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) requirements, foreign nationals who are appearing in NEET-PG and those who are required to have security clearance. They are also required to obtain security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India before applying for the NEET-PG examination. After receiving the clearance, the candidates should submit their security clearance while applying for the NEET-PG exam. 
  • Foreign Nationals must be registered with the appropriate authority in their respective country. 
  • Such candidates can apply for NEET PG without a Registration Certificate from MCI. They must pay the registration fee to MCI in order to receive a temporary registration if they pass the examination and are offered a seat through NEET PG 2025. This registration will only be valid for the stated course's duration.

The NEET PG 2025 reservation specifies the limitations on the distribution of seats amongst candidates in the reserved and non-reserved categories. Candidates from both the reserved category and the non-reserved category must read the NEET PG reservation criteria in order to fully understand how the seats are allocated between the two categories.
