SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2025: Education Qualification, Post-wise Age Limit and Relaxation Criteria

SSC CGL 2025 eligibility is laid out by the SSC in the official notification released on the portal. The eligibility criteria for SSC CGL exam will be released at ssc.gov.in.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2025: The Staff Service Commission(SSC) releases the SSC CGL 2025 official notification on the official portal. Once the official notification is released, candidates aspiring to appear for the SSC CGL exam are advised to read the notification carefully to know the post-wise SSC CGL 2025 Eligibility.

If the candidate fulfils the eligibility criteria laid out by the SSC, then he or she is eligible to appear for the examination. However, if the candidate fails to fulfil the eligibility, then he or she will not be eligible to fill the application form. The SSC CGL exam will be conducted in two tiers - Tier 1 and 2. Those who will qualify for the Tier 1 exam will be eligible to appear for the Tier 2 examination. 

SSC CGL notification has prescribed the detailed application dates, eligibility criteria, syllabus, exam pattern and the expected vacancies, among other important information related to the recruitment process. However, SSC is entitled to amend the notification at any time before the exam process is completed. 

The Staff Selection Commission will release the SSC CGL application form 2025 on April 22, 2025. Eligible candidates will be able to register for SSC CGL till May 21, 2025.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2025: Nationality Status 

The candidate aspiring to apply for the SSC CGL exam must fulfil the following eligibility criteria regarding Nationality: 

  • Citizen of India
  • Subject of Nepal
  • Subject of Bhutan
  • Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962

Candidates of Indian origin who have migrated from the following countries with the intention of permanently settling in India are also eligible to apply for the SSC CGL 2025 Exams:

  • Pakistan
  • Burma
  • Sri Lanka,
  • East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopi

SSC CGL Examinations have different age limits for different posts. Candidates applying for the SSC CGL 2025 are required to fulfil the following age criteria as on January 01, 2022

Detailed information of the SSC CGL post is provided in the official notification. SSC will be conducting recruitment for a total of 36 posts in 3 groups in various departments/ministries/organisations of the central government.

SSC CGL posts are classified into the following categories:

  • Group ‘B’ Gazetted
