BSSC Syllabus : The Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) is responsible for releasing the syllabus. The syllabus is released in PDF format along with the official notification. BSSC Syllabus for Prelims and Mains 

While the Prelims exam has subjects such as general studies, general science and mathematics, comprehension/logical reasoning/ mental ability, the main exam also has the same subjects. However, in the mains exam, these subjects come under paper 2. Paper 1 of the exam is the Hindi language exam.

BSSC Exam Pattern 

BSSC exam patterns for prelims and mains exams are different compared to each other. The exam pattern is released on the official website in a PDF format along with the BSSC official notification. Hence, candidates can check the syllabus, exam pattern and marking scheme together. The exam pattern will pay attention to topics such as number of questions, duration of exam and total marks. 

BSSC Exam Pattern for Prelims 

  • The prelims exam has 3 subjects including general studies, comprehension/logical reasoning/ mental ability and general science and mathematics. 
  • Each subject will consist of 50 questions which make a total of 150 questions asked in the exam 
  • The duration of the examination is 2 hours 15 minutes and candidates have to complete the exam in the given duration. 
  • Each subject consists of 200 marks which make the total marks of the examination  600

BSSC Mains Exam pattern 

  • The BSSC mains exam has been divided into two papers. While paper 1 is a Hindi language exam, paper 2 is similar to the one described in the prelims.
  • Paper 1 and 2 are both 2 hours and 15 minutes separately. 
  • While paper 1 of mains has 100 questions, sections A, B, and C of paper 2 have 50 questions each. The total number of questions asked combining both papers 1 and 2 are 250 questions. 
  • Paper 1 of mains exam is 400 marks, whereas section A, B, and C of paper 2 has 200 marks each. The total marks of paper 2 combining both paper 1 and 2 is 1000 marks.
