BSSC Exam Pattern 2023: BSSC exam pattern is released by the BSSC itself. The exam pattern is released along with the official notification. Since the BSSC examination has three different stages including the prelims, mains and interview, the exam pattern is different for all three stages. Hence, candidates should cautiously refer to that exam pattern for the stage they are giving the examination for. The exam pattern plays an essential role for candidates who are preparing for the examination as it sheds light on issues such as the duration of the examination, the total number of questions, the type of questions and other information. 

Apart from exam patterns, candidates are also advised to check the BSSC syllabus as well as the marking scheme. All these three aspects including the syllabus, exam pattern and marking scheme are considered extremely important as it will help the candidate to have a better idea about the examination. Needless to say, the BSSC exam pattern, syllabus and marking scheme are advised to study thoroughly in order to score their desired marks in the examination.

The BSSC exam pattern consists of two phases including Prelims and Mains. While the prelims have questions from the general awareness, mental ability and general science and math section, the mains sections have two papers. While paper 1 is a Hindi language paper, paper 2 has similar subjects as compared to prelims exam. 

BSSC Exam Pattern 2023

The BSSC exam is conducted to recruit candidates for the post offered by the government of Bihar. Candidates must know that they are required to clear all three stages of the examination, and then only they will get recruited. To qualify for the examination, candidates must refer to the syllabus, exam pattern and marking scheme. 

The duration of the BSSC exam for prelims and mains is 2 hours 15 minutes. While the total marks in the prelims exam is 600, the total marks for the mains is 1000. The exam pattern further sheds light on the types of questions asked in the examination, the total marks of the examination and other information. 

BSSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2023

  • The Prelims exam is also known as the screening stage and the candidates have to clear this stage in order to appear for the other stage. 
  • The prelims stage has 3 subjects including general studies, comprehension/logical reasoning/ mental ability and general science and mathematics. 
  • The duration of the examination is 2 hours 15 minutes and candidates have to complete the exam in the given duration. 
  • Since there are 3 subjects in mains, each of them has 50 questions which makes the total as 150 questions.
  • All three subjects consists of 200 marks respectively which makes the total marks in the exam as of 600

BSSC Marking Scheme 

Apart from the exam pattern, the BSSC marking scheme is also an essential part for students who are preparing for the examination. The main aim of the marking scheme is to shed light on which topic has the highest weightage.

BSSC Mains Exam Pattern 2023

Candidates can take a look at the following exam pattern issued for the BSSC mains. 

  • Candidates who will qualify for the prelims exam will be further eligible to appear for the mains examination. Further, those who will clear the prelims and mains will be eligible to appear for the interview round. 
  • The BSSC mains exam has two papers. While paper 1 is in Hindi language, paper 2 has similar subjects which were mentioned in the prelims stage
  • Paper 1 of the mains exam has only one subject which consists of 100 questions. On the other hand, paper two has three sections and they include subjects such as general studies, comprehension/logical reasoning/ mental ability and general science and mathematics. Each subject is 50 marks.
  • The Hindi language exam of the mains exam is for 400 marks, whereas the section A, B, and C of paper 2 has 200 marks each.

BSSC Syllabus 

Candidates should know the syllabus before beginning the preparation of the examination. Since the prelims and mains exams are different, the candidate has to refer to the particular syllabus for which he or she is appearing for the examination.
