The Indian Institute of Technology Kalyani is situated in West Bengal. It was established on May 21, 2014 with the mission of bridging the knowledge gap in academia, research, and business. The Board of Governors of IIIT Kalyani, which is composed of members          from academia, business, and civil society, as well as representatives from the  Government of West Bengal, the Government of India (MHRD), and industry partners, oversees the institute. 

It was established with the goal of developing the finest human resources in the field of information technology and utilizing the multifaceted nature of this field across a range of industries. IIIT Kalyani aspires to become a premier academic institution with the best resources for research and education, and it produces IT graduates who are prepared for the workforce to satisfy market demands. In order to guarantee that new goods, solutions, and intellectual property are developed in the State while utilizing its intellectual capital, the institute will serve as a catalyst in the development of an inventive ecosystem that is focused on entrepreneurs.

In March 2017, the cabinet designated IIIT Kalyani as an Institute of National Importance (INI). The West Bengal government has also provided the institute with help by giving it 50 acres of land to establish the campus. For the time being, IIIT Kalyani's industry partners include Rolta Foundation and Coal India Ltd.

The University offers UG, PG and PhD programs in a wide range of specializations. The courses are offered across the engineering stream such as B Tech in Computer science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, M Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and PhD. • Admission to different programs is based on the eligibility requirements and the merit list in the university’s entrance exam.
• Entrance exams such as, JEE Mains, GATE, UGC-NET.
• To be eligible for the entrance exam, an applicant must register online at the university's website. 
• After paying the required annual tuition, the candidate will be provisionally admitted to the program based on their merit and if they meet the eligibility requirements.

The university is fully equipped to organize placement meetings, video conferences, and other placement events on campus. IIIT Kalyani Infrastructure Facilities

The building's infrastructure is adequate and of a decent quality for the institution's operations. The campus has been allocated smart classrooms with the ability to have video conferences. Teachers and industry professionals who work remotely teach lessons and engage with students via video conferencing.

The institute offers out-of-state students housing in rented flats. Students who identify as boys and girls have separate housing. Four hostels, three for boys and one for girls, have been rented by the institute.

Although knowledge is power, it is useless without application. IIIT Kalyani encourages education on all fronts. The institute has hardware and software laboratories. Three hardware and three software laboratories are available.

The medical facilities were set up by IIIT Kalyani in collaboration with the JNM Hospital and College of Medicine, Kalyani. On call ambulance service (complete with ICU facilities) is offered around-the-clock.

In the library it contains qualitative books on a variety of topics, including professional communication and ethics, science, technology, engineering, economics, and finance.In addition to these basic collections, there are documents available on literature, other subjects, and competitive examinations such as the GATE, CAT, and GRE.
