Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing Kancheepuram was established in the year 2007 by the Ministry of Education to promote design and manufacturing-oriented engineering. It is one of the first institutions in India to integrate design, business, humanities, and management courses in its UG curriculum of engineering degrees. 

The institution offers UG, PG, and PhD level courses like B.Tech, M.Tech, and M.Des on the basis of marks secured in national level entrance examinations like JEE Main, GATE, and CEED. For the final seat allotment students are subject to register for common seat allotment counselling process by the authorities like JoSAA, CSAB, DASA, and CCMT.

Admission to a four-year B.Tech degree is subject to marks obtained in JEE Main examination which is further followed by JoSAA counselling for the final seat allotment of the registered candidates.

The university has secured recognition from authorities like UGC and AICTE.In the NIRF report for the year 2023, IIITDM Kancheepuram secured a rank band of 101-150 under the engineering category.

IIITDM Kancheepuram Placement 2023 witnessed 73% placement rate by recruiting students enrolled in diverse UG and PG level courses in top companies like Adobe, Samsung, L&T, Virtusa, Google, Capgemini and many more. The highest placement package stood at INR 32 LPA with more than 150 companies visiting to the campus to recruit individuals.

The Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing Kancheepuram has a dedicated training and placement cell that facilitates the entire placement process happening in the college campus.In the placement year 2023 the highest package offered stood at INR 34 LPA, a total of 190 job offers were made in diverse sectors like IT, engineering, software, product design, consulting, and others. The Computer Science and Engineering branch witnessed the highest number of job offers with an average salary of INR 12.95 LPA. Recruiters from top companies like Adobe, Gamescraft, Zoom, Samsung, L&T, Virtusa, Paypal, IBM Google, Capgemini, TVS Motors, and others have actively participated in the on-campus placement drive 2023.

• Separate accommodation facilities for girls and boys are made available. Three hostel blocs each with a capacity of accommodating 550 students with room options available on single, double, and triple sharing.
• Hostel students are accessible to facilities like mess, common rooms, sports complex, wi-fi, electricity, and water supply. Each hostel has a student head to deal with hostel affairs.
• A central library with a wide range of books, journals, publications, and research papers sling with e-learning resources are provided by the institution to support academic and research-based practices of the individuals.
